  • New GC2 with FR1 - not working. Please help!

    I’ve just received a second hand GC2 with FR1.

I’ve downloaded the three downloads from Foresight’s website, have downloaded the software, have the dongle, and have managed to get the computer to recognise the GC2, and the software to load; BUT, the software is not picking up the shots properly - its doing weird things like:
    1) registering a shot with 0mph ball speed when no ball has been hit.
    2) picking up correct ball parameters, but showing a flight of say 10’ (instead of what should be say 150y).

It’s basically not working, but the various parts seem to be all connected properly. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled everything. Grrr, don’t know where to go for help?

The only thing I can think that may be a problem, is during installation I had to choose one of Windows 7 (32 bit), Windows 7 (64 bit), or Windows XP. I have Windows 10, so just selected Windows XP..... ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I must have been at this for 5 hours now 😪.

    Thanks,

    Danny.

Windows 10 is a 64 bit OS. I'd suggest reinstalling software with the 64 bit choice. XP is old 32 bit OS.

I thought XP was newer than 7 but you're right - 7 is newer. I'll uninstall and reinstall with 7 (64).

Install foresight components 3.30 I think. It makes fr1 windows 10 compatible.

      EDIT: I think its 1.30.

Thanks, I read that, but I can't find a download for that, unless its in Foresight's updated downloads (which I've downloaded).

Are you connecting to the gc2 with Bluetooth or using a USB cable? There are lots of known connectivity issues with BT so a physical connection with a USB cable is recommended

        StuartG, USB cable.

So, I've narrowed it down - the GC2 unit is recording the shot correctly (verified with audio readout), but the software is reading everything as zero launch angle, so the shot moves only a few feet. The other shot parameters seem to be correct. Putting practice is working fine.

Launch angle reads as zero under the 'shot analysis' tab, but is recorded correctly under the 'Performance' tab. Very odd.

Any suggestions as to how to get the software to register the launch angle correctly? ....

        Thank you.

Do you get correct numbers when you are not connected to a PC? In other words does the GC2 give you shot data on the LCD? The USB will need to be disconnected to see the LCD.

Yes, Correct numbers on the LCD when not connected to PC. GC2 is readings correctly, but something is lost in the communication to the PC ...

Couldn't hurt to try reloading/rewriting the firmware on the GC2 (can d/l from foresights web site - same page the drivers are found on).

Sounds like a driver issue then. What firmware is on the GC2? There is one for pre-4 and one for before. Also, if you are on windows 10 you do want the Win 7 driver and matching 32 vs 64 is important so make sure you have the correct one. It sounds like data is flowing but it's corrupt or incomplete. Wouldn't be a bad idea to try another cable or bluetooth to see if anything changes.

Thank you so much to everybody, especially Stingreye. It was the Components 3.30 needed to make compatible with Win 10. I couldn't see Components 3.30 on Foresight's website, so not sure what's going on there, but all sorted, and played a few holes of my first simulated golf today!

Only on the laptop, as the sim room is on hold for a while whilst we have building work carried out elsewhere (but we need the sim room for overspill!), but great to get one step closer.

              Thanks again.

I edited my post above so people don't go looking for the wrong version. Its 1.30 of foresight components.

I’m having the exact same issue with mine, where did you find 1.30?
