  • Fsx 2018 vs TGC 2019

Hey guys, I’m looking at getting a GC2 soon whenever I come across a decent deal. Theres not a lot of comparison out there between FSX and TGC. Was hoping to get some opinions on what people like better and why. I like the idea of just starting with tgc 2019 because its way cheaper and the graphics look pretty amazing. Thanks for any help.

I agree TGC2019 is all you really need imo.

If you want to play simulated rounds, go with TGC 2019. If you want to practice like you are on a driving range and track stats while having an integrated swing camera, FSX works better in that regard.

Do you just prefer the way the numbers are displayed and saved with fsx? I assume tgc also has a driving range mode showing ball flight and numbers?

Yes, you can hit on a driving range in TGC 2019, but it is pretty much like hitting on a real driving range and being told how far each individual shot goes. It's still helpful for practicing, but I guess I would call the quality of the practice (not the game itself) lower than when practicing with FSX. FSX is highly configurable, but it allows you to see stuff like what is my average carry and dispersion with a 7 iron on the last 20 shots throwing out shots 3 and 9 which were hit exceptionally poorly. And then after each swing it plays a video from my webcam showing a slow motion down the line video. I also have an HMT and have it set to show all my club data after each shot. So when I have a swing change in mind, I can see hard numbers like the ball is going farther, straighter, my swing path is closer to zero, etc as well as a video to confirm that I'm doing what I think I am.

TGC2019 is all you need but:

      TGC Pros:
      Graphics
So many amazing courses including ranges
      Great tournaments
      Price

      FSX Pros:
      Amazing practice and fitting software

      TGC Cons
No ability to track practice shots
      Weird bounce on low shots

      FSX Cons
      Price
      Lack of courses
      Have to buy courses
      Graphics

I bought an fr1 for $500 to test clubs/ balls etc... I have plenty of cameras. Slow motion too but I don't use them for that.

I have both and mostly use FSX. Launching TGC is a bit of a pain/hassle. FSX is a single launch and I'm off an running. I need to launch a few apps to get TGC going. The biggest issue with FSX is the cost. Honestly, since you are just starting out in the sim world I'd go with TGC2019 and see how you like it. If you want to go a little deeper with the data and accuracy look into FSX.

I guess your main goal should be the primary decision driver. If you are after primarily game improvement I'd go with FSX. If you just want to play simulated rounds and compete online then TGC2019 is the obvious choice.

I've used both and if you want to be a better golfer go with FSX and if you just like to play around and play video games, go with TGC.

Wouldn’t that be like saying if you want to get good at golf only go to the range and practice if you only want to play around go golfing?. What about TGC keeps someone from becoming a better golfer? I’m just curious what your opinion is. I have both myself.

Sorry, I know it’s not apples t apples here. I really did enjoy TGC when I used it and it was great to pay simulated rounds. I honestly wish I could have both, but since I now have a Quad, I can’t or at least not easily.

If I had to pick one though, and improvement was my goal, FSX has many more game improvement features that I have found beneficial for my game, whereas TGC has none of those.

I respect your opinion but should be prefaced as just that. I’ve played golf for a very long time and I know my way around a golf course. I have nothing bad to say about FSX but for my money TGC is far far superior. I don’t personally need a software to tell me my wedge goes 125 or my average draw spin is 500 rpm. I already know that. Other than that there’s price and quality of courses. Again, my opinion but TGC hands down gives me the best of everything except it does t tell me my average wedge is 125.

I don't have fsx. I have tgc/tgc2019 including many different ranges. I have become a much better golfer outdoors because of them. Im not following you baller. ??

I really don't mind FSX but if both FSX and TGC2019 were the same price and all FSX courses were free like in TGC I'd still spend my money on TGC2019.
