From Skytrak to Foresight GC2 HMT

    Hi everbody!

I am not sure whether I am supposed to aks this question here or in the TGC2019 forum, but I will start here.

    At the moment I am using a Skytrak with TGC2019. I have a Skytrak-licence for TGC2019.

I am thinking about moving to a GC2 HMT as I have the possibilty to get a used one.

So my question is: what do I have to do to get TGC2019 running with the GC2?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ivo

Contact protee support to transfer your license from skytrak to GC2.

That means once I transfered the license I cannot use Skytrak anymore, right? So I cannot test the GC2 and decide later to keep it or not?

You won't pick skytrak over gc2. If you do that would be the first ive heard of somebody doing that.

          1. You will need to transfer your license (~ $100)
          2. You will need to install GSX software (interface between gc2 and tgc).. its free
          3. You will need to use bluetooth for gc2 connectivity. most ppl have better luck buying a bluetooth dongle for a strong signal

Thanks to all for the answers!

I am just a bit worried that nothing will work, I cannot use the skytrak anymore and the winterseason will be lost...
Just some bad experiences with bluetooth, connections, licences...

Wow, your making the decision for me to not even consider SkyTrak - is it really that bad?

I am about to do the exact same thing - gc2 arriving Monday. Will miss the skytrack range but not the delay or disconnects. FSX software price seems extreme for home use. Hoping the TGC transfer to the GC2 is easy. 1

Awesome, how much did it run you total for that move?? I'm at the build stage now, but want to be ready when it comes time to order. FSX software though does look awesome.

$5k CPO route - I think the skytrak is a great device - and loved thier range software. Its feeling like winter in the Northeast now so its less about practice and more about the sim golf now.

Quick question - with skytrack I have used a desktop that was indoors connecting wireless - how close do you need to be with PC for GC2. Have a laptop option as I assume the unit needs to be closer given bluetooth connectivity? Do USB extension cords work well? I am connecting through 1 wall - office to garage. thx. 1

So unfortunatly the GC2 HMT unit I wanted to buy tomorrow was sold yesterday

I am looking to find another used one and I am wondering if I have to look on the year of manufacture or a special version because of improvements or compatibility with HMT if I want to upgrade later.

                    Any recomendations?

                    Thanks

I moved from Skytrak to GC2/HMT combo with TGC then got the upgrade to TGC 2019 by virtue of having bought the lifetime license for TGC.

There were zero issues in transferring , Protee support is awesome and will help you quickly if there are any issues which is unlikely.

Skytrak is also very good and provides amazing bang for buck, I was not disappointed with mine, I started my build with a strategy to get the key elements working within a budget and then look at upgrades without making expensive mistakes which you can do, if you get some things wrong.

It's not really fair to compare GC2/HMT to Skytrak as the cost of the hardware is definitely not apples to apples.

I was able to sell my Skytrak easily as they are in demand so did not lose to much to upgrade.

My opinion re FSX 2018, is only really worth the expense if you have HMT also as the added cost brings club data and camera integration etc .

TGC 2019 blows FSX2018 away with respect to value, courses available with an ever increasing library, graphics etc

FSX2018 needs very deep pockets to build a good course library .

In addition, the graphics on FSX are pretty bad for what they charge even if the courses were free.
