Hey guys, I'm really finding it strange how low of a carry distance my gc2 is giving me. I find that my carry distances in TGC 2019 seem much closer to my real life carry distance and also the gcquad I hit on at my local pro shop. For example I'm routinely seeing 9-11 yard differences in carry distance with a 7 iron (distance difference generally larger the longer the club), a few yards no biggie but I think ~10 yards is pretty significant. Is there any chance my gc2 needs to be calibrated? Thinking of taking the gc2 to my local shop and trying to get both to read the same shots.

GC2 calibration?

Not as much as you are seeing, but you have higher spin than I do. The calibration would change the ball speed, spin and angle. The difference that you are seeing is the difference in the algorithms used by the GC2 and TGC to calculate carry. As far as I know, the algorithm in both hasn’t changed in several years. GC2s will give too long of carry for very low spin drives, but irons always seem to be within a few yards for me assuming a relatively flat shot.

Yep your right they're mizuno mp 54's, 34 degrees loft 7 iron. I'm thinking real life is more inbetween the 2 but the OCD side of me needs to compare it with the gcquad at my local proOriginally posted by Mozza View Postwith that ball speed and spin rate 170 yards seems right from the numbers I see. I assume from the spin its a forged iron and not a hot face

Your spin and launch angle are a little high. The GC2 hates high spin. Also, the GC2 doesn't account for elevation. In TGC did the ball land down hill a little? Are all of your GSX settings set to 0? There's nothing wrong with the GC2.
I find TGC2019 longer than my GC2 as well. I believe the GC2 is correct. You can tune down your irons in GSX if you like.My Courses:

Ok so some interesting news to report after going to my local pro shop and hitting with their gcquad and my gc2. For starters I couldn't set them next to each other because they seem to interfere with one another and I couldn't get both to sense the ball at the same time. No biggie I hit a few on each switching back and forth from gcquad to gc2. I was hitting with just my 7 iron and both were giving me carry distances generally of 180-184, exactly where I historically have been. Spin was down closer to 6000-6800 on both. So what changed?? Well, I think my used pro v1's in my garage are CRAP! They gave me a couple new pro v1's to take home and I just hit a few in my garage, same result as at the pro shop using the new golf balls! I then switched back to hitting one of my used balls and immediately lost 20 yards.
So the only thing I still find interesting is that TGC was giving me more normal carry numbers for some reason despite using the old pro v's. I haven't hit the new balls on TGC yet to see how it compares to gc2 using the new ones but will report back. Hopefully you guys find this interesting or helpful anyway. The lesson Ive learned so far is to stop buying used pro v's on Ebay.
Happy to report my gc2 is accurate

I'll turn the irons down a little. In addition to the older pro v's not performing as well I think part of it is that they are very cold in my garage. I noticed a drop off of about 5 yards once the new balls I had just brought home had several hours to get cold in the garage and I hit them again. I turn a heater on when I play out there and its around 52 degrees but the balls being on the floor probably never make it to that temp.

You might consider bring the balls inside your house. Aside from the minor distance loss doing so makes them a lot less susceptible to cracking. I used to crack a lot when leaving the balls in the garage during the winter. Since keeping them in the house I hardly crack any.Originally posted by cphillips82 View PostI'll turn the irons down a little. Another thing to try is use firmware 3.5.1. You'll find it closer in carry to TGC.My Courses:
