  • FSX18/GCQuad

I just purchased a GCQuad with FSX18. I received my activation email yesterday, so I downloaded the software and courses onto my computer. My device won't be here until next week. I understand I don't have a device connected, but when I go into the range or a course the graphics are really poor. The trees and mountains look like Mario Bros from NES days. I followed the directions on optimizing my NVidia card and still poor. I have a RTX 2060 card, so I don't think that is the issue. Will it improve once the device is connected? Should I try different settings or is this the way it will be? The videos I watched online with lower quality cards looked better.

adjust the graphics setting within the FSX software, make sure the graphics are on high. It will never look great, but probably better than what you have now.

That’s about it . Physics in FSX2018 are great, graphics not so much .

Range is not the best graphics, but honestly, I never noticed. Not really that important. Here is a shot of mine. I have an RTX 2060 as well:

You don't mention what resolution you are running at. Yours looks distorted. Ballers post is what it should look like. 4K will give the best graphics FSX can provide but it's not 4 times better than 1080p. You do need to set the resolution in Windows AND FSX. I don't think FSX sets them automatically.

I do have my laptop set to 3840x2160 and the FSX software to Full Graphics. Is there anything else I should do? I will definitely post another screen shot once my unit arrives and I start hitting some shots.

Not sure if this is related but I was going to make a separate post. I was running v5.0.0 FSX2018 and I upgraded to the latest v6. After upgrading my graphics are WAY more choppy than what it was on version 5. I even downgraded back to 5 and it was much better. Would prefer to run the latest v6 though. Currently have GTX1650. Thinking of upgrading to 1080 but it kills me to drop $600+ to fix something that an FSX update broke. Checked my settings and nothing changed outside of the FSX upgrade. Any ideas?

FCMTX75 - Make sure your display settings in FSX match the 3840x2160 resolution. Also, if you have a mixed setup, say a 1080p and UHD screen FSX sets everything to 1080p even though it all says it's UHD. I went out and purchased a UHD TV because of this. That and a bigger display is easier on the eyes.

DjPiLL - Have you updated the NVIDIA drivers lately? I don't notice a big difference between the versions as far as performance goes. Occasionally I'll get some studdering but I'm typically recording when that happens. I haven't updated my system at all. I'm running a 1070 OC.

I don't know if this is the same problem I was having, but I was trying to just setup FSX on my computer monitor (no projector) and Foresight support gave me these instructions:

Jkinetic, this fixed mine. Thank you! I used my GCQuad for the first time this morning and it’s amazing. The graphics are not better than TGC but with more accurate ball data and club data this thing is awesome. I think I’m going to keep my SkyTrak with TGC too. Why not right? Haha.
