  • GC2 wedge spin issues and FSX live

Received a new GC2 with FSX 2018 last month. The sim room is not quite done so tried it a few times at the range. On partial or full wedge the spin seems really low. 2-3K. Once in a while it get up to 5K. Is this normal? 8 and 7 irons are getting 7-6K spin. Also, when I go into FSX live the descent angle show 0. It shows the descent angle during initial capture. Has anyone had the same issue? Any suggestion would be appreciated!

I just got a GCQuad and I am not able to view any of my sessions or rounds on FSX Live. Is there something that needs to be saved before exiting a session? I am logged in when I am playing and practicing.

That is really strange. If it's reading other irons correct it should read wedges. They should be closer to 10k. Have someone else hit wedges with it

Make sure your wedge faces are really clean. They can chew the covers off of the ball and leave a thin layer of plastic from the cover on the wedge face, which makes it slick. It isn't always very visible, but if you scrub it with something like a brillo pad and some water it will come off. Also, depending on the mat that you have, it can be easy to hit a little behind the ball so the club is bouncing up into it which kills spin. And of course using a ball with a urethane cover like ProV1 is needed to get maximum spin on any shot.

Used some new balls today on a new mat and was getting 7-8 K for 3/4 wedge. Feel much better. On FSX live the descent angle still shows 0 though. Could it because this was using the iPhone app? Will try the iPad app and laptop next. Back to the spin issue. Last time the GC 2 was below the level of the hitting mat. Could this have caused the low spin recorded on the wedge? This time besides using new balls and mat I also put a book below the GC 2 so it’s level with the edge of the mat.

Both balls and the mat can have a significant influence on the spin.
