i wonder what the putting tolerances are with a GC2, ie how many degrees could it be off from actual.

You’re more likely to get a higher tolerance from the mat than the GC2. It’s pretty accurate. My Courses:

1 degree is the quoted tolerance on Foresight's site. If I hit a straight putt it says 0.1 or 0.2. It doesn't say 1.My Courses:

It's pretty easy to do a test. Place a piece of tape on the centerline near the screen. Take your putts from the same spot ( on the centerline) every time. Note what the GC2 says compared to what you see. You can do the math with the help of a right angle triangle calculator. A RATC can be found here . http://www.csgnetwork.com/righttricalc.html
For example ….if you are putting from 10 feet away and your GC2 says 1 degree left.....the center of the ball would be 2.09 inches to the left. Since the hole is 4.25"......It might drop on the right edge if the speed is perfect. Most likely you will lip out.
The mat makes a big difference. FB..... not so good. When I had a GC2, I built a slider so that I could putt off the same surface all the way to the screen. Considering that the GC2 measures HA from the side, it does a great job.
