GC2 Setup

Probably a super dumb range of questions. Just got my GC2 and I have some set up questions:

1) my garage floor has a slight angle, does that matter for the GC2? When I say slight, it’s barely outside of perfectly level, but not completely leveled.

2) if the ball is inside the hitting square, it should read the shot going straight right? Just thinking if I’m offset slightly to the ball, that will probably impact the shot. How do you guys ensure your aim is the same angle as the GC2?

3) how do you use the GC2 stand? That can probably help with question 1, but I can’t figure out how to set it up. And does it work with the HMT?

4) any other newbie suggestions? Just trying to think of things I should know already.

You want to be hitting at the same level as the GC2. The unit should be parallel to your hitting mat so it measures a straight shot. I don't have the stand but I assume it raises the unit to your mat level. Being slightly off may not be a big issue.

If you have a later model it will self adjust. If you have an older model (ser no below 3500 or so) level the unit and run the tilt calibration routine.

Being inside the hitting square does nothing to ensure the camera lenses are perpendicular to your aim direction. You need to have some method to get the GC2 perpendicular to your aim line which with a mat is usually the edge of the mat. You will be doing yourself a favor by ensuring the GC2 is in the same place all the time relative to the edge of your mat in all three dimensions. That way you will be hitting the ball from the same mat area all the time and you pretty much don't have to pay much attention red/green light or the display box. Remember all measured and computed ball parameters are relative to the GC2 orientation.

Be familiar with how to disconnect the internal battery (a few screws and take the cover apart) Every now and then the unit may hang up. There is really no way to shut it completely off as the on/off button is actually read by the electronics. When you disconnect the battery and reconnect you can achieve a complete internal reboot when you start the unit up again. The other method would be to completely drain the battery but this may take a long time. This is really no different then what sometimes happens with laptop computers. Over the last few years this has happened often enough (once or twice a season) that I finally put in a hard switch between the battery and the internal unit. The self tapping assembly screws are not designed for a lot of assembly cycles.
