  • GC2+HMT vs GCQuad and What are the advantages of other (non-FSX) software?

Hoping to get some info from this group. I have been looking at the GCQuad and FSX18. The foresight rep as well our regular instructor/fitting pro at my local PGA Tour Superstore have both recommended the GCQuad w club data for me and my family.

I understand from the research I've done here the forum that only the GC2+HMT would give me the club data and ball flight while giving the flexibility to go with another software platform other than FSX 2018.

What are the pros vs cons of the other simulation software other than FSX 2018 such that it might/should influence me to go with the GC2+HMT over the Quad?

I also understand that Foresight expects to release an upgrade to FSX 2018 to FSX 2020 early summer, for whatever that is worth.

Please help educate this newbie and help me not make a bad decision if I go with the Quad. Hardware wise the Quad seems like it may clearly be the better choice, simplicity of the single device, the replaceable battery and ethernet/WiFi and the 100% larger hitting zone. But since this seems to lock me into just the FSX software, I would like to understand what am I giving up if I go this direction.

    Thanks in advance.

GC2+HMT is a better value. GCQuad is like what you mentioned: portability, usability, more functionalities (putting module, alignment stick, etc.). It's no longer locked into FSX software anymore. It has more options now just like GC2+HMT. If you have money GCQuad will be a better choice obviously.

I own a GC2-HMT. I also have both FSX18 and TGC2019. In my own experience, I am a big fan of the data that FSX provides for club data, bag mapping, and the skills challenge. However, I much prefer the simulator play in TGC. I find that it has better graphics, more courses, and is a heck of a lot cheaper. TGC is sub 1k where FSX is around 3k. If you have an HMT, you will probably want FSX though in order to get the detailed Club data. The Club data when playing TGC is simply what is on the GC2 screen. It shows club path, face angles, and impact position. It is a lot more difficult to see and read though. FSX has 4 clear pictures on what happened. Maybe there is a different way to view the data when playing TGC but that is all I know of. I am by no means an expert on these topics like some of the members. However, those are my experiences. I also understand that the GCquad can have connectivity to E6 which is another software. I think that is pretty expense as well though. I’m not sure that helped but for what it’s worth. I am very happy with my GC2-HMT and I am a huge fan of TGC

Thanks guys for the input. I think the Quad and FSX2018 is the direction I'm heading.

I started with a GC2 w/ hmt a year ago... I bought a quad last month. The quad is more accurate, the bigger hitting area is nice, right/left computable, the alignment stick. Frankly, after having the GC2 for a year i loved it so much I couldn’t stand that something even better was available.

i enjoy the sim aspect of FSX, but this is really about improvement for me and that’s where the FSX range really shines.

if your going for SIM, GC2 might well be all you need, if you want the most accurate and flexible application to get better than its the quad I think.

Just FYI, not topical to your post, but worth sharing.

I recently purchased a GCQuad and I was able to pick and choose elements of the Foresight Sim-in-a-box offering and get better than advertised pricing. The Foresight rep was extremely helpful and flexible, the service was great. I ended up getting a package of courses on FSX2018, a gaming laptop, the GCQuad and the club data add-on. I didn't want any of the net/screen components or hitting mats, etc.

I have used a GC2 at Golftec and love the additional data I am getting from the Quad. While I like playing sim golf, my primary goal is game improvement. Taco nailed it, you can't beat Foresight for game improvement.

All, thanks for input. I found similar JCK on pricing via my FSS rep. Purchased the Quad, software, club data and course bundle. I know a bit on PC's and knew I could build a dedicated gaming desktop for the Quad cheaper than offered by FSS. My net and mat arrive Monday and the GCQ Weds, and the PC is ready with FSX 18 waiting. Garage is cleaned out and ready. I'm about as geeked as I can be.
