Risk of Hitting GCQ with errent shot

Hi, I have reviewed several threads discussing GC2 and protective covers and how the risk of hitting the machine is low but not zero. I cannot find a thread discussing the GCQ. Am I missing something obvious? Is it built to withstand an impact?

We have a GCQ at our office, when working with Foresight I asked them this question. This is what I heard back from them when we purchased it back in 2018.


"The GCQuad has both external as well as internal protection built in. Rated for up to 70 mph ball speeds with a direct hit and errant toe shots really only travel at about 45 mph.

In addition, the field of view is designed that the unit sits at an extreme angle making it even tougher to be hit.

Since March release, we have not had any units come back in house in need of repairs from being struck.

We’ve overprepared in this area"


I will say in the 2 years that we've had it, although I've seen some close calls I've never seen a shank actually hit the GCQ.

I’ve hit mine...practice swing, didn’t expect to hit the ball, or maybe I forgot it was there...don’t remember. The thing is a tank. It didnt even move.

Sadly, I did the same thing with my ES16 that I had before my quad. No such luck. Had to send it in for repair.

GCQ is very well built. I still don't let my kids use it until I am confident they are not going to fire one straight right off the toe. A shank would not hit it, but a thin snick off the toe could. As noted I think it could withstand that kind of hit but for a 15 grand machine I'm going to keep teaching the kids a bit more. Getting to use the sim is the carrot.

I even let my 7 year old hit off my quad. If you put the ball in the forward-most part of the hitting area, there is no chance and even if they do, the ball is not going fast enough to do anything.
