FSX2020...stable?

    FSX2020...stable?

    For those who have upgraded in the past week, I noticed v7.03 is now out, so have things stabilised a bit?

    I only have three of the new 3.0 courses so only want to upgrade from FSX2018 if everything is working well, including the older courses. There were a few comments around older courses not loading properly and other bugs.

    Downloaded and played the upgraded version of Pebble Beach last night.

    To give Foresight credit, it’s definitely better than before: Noticeable improvements:

    1) Sound actually works , old version was silent and sterile until you got to hole 5.

    2) Graphics noticeable improvements. Not amazing but noticeable.

    3) Putting physics seem to be more real.


    All in all, for a free upgrade not bad .

      Agreed, played a few holes of Pebble and it was definitely better.

    Did the gapping today, functionality works great, but then I get to the end and find they present you with Total Distance and not Carry Distance (even though the table says Carry).

    Where is the QA with these guys?!

      WOW that is frustrating. I have been working hard to figure out carry and they dropped the ball on that! So the little printout card type of thing is total but not carry?

        Certainly showing that way on mine. I use metric units and there are quite a few conversion quirks at times (eg wind speed issues), but they must be grabbing the wrong database field (even though it should just be a simple calc).

        It is frustrating because the process works really well, but then the final result is useless to me!

          In fact these aren’t even average Total Distance, they’ve used the longest Total Distance from the 3-4 shots I selected. Which is why the gapping looks atrocious.

            The Gapping is a good idea - done very bad. It is still better to do it yourself on the range, delete outliers and use the avwrages per club.

              Agree, but if they just got the data right and offered avg Carry, avg Total and avg dispersion (L/R) it would be a really simple and useful tool.

            Interesting. I mostly am going to use the FSX software to get better and practice rather than play courses

            Can this be fixed with an update?

              Sure can...whenever they get around to it! FS do seem to roll out a new version every few months with an update. I’m gonna covert to yards tomorrow to see if it’s just a problem with metric.

              Without question a GCQ/2 with FSX has got all the tools and data to help you improve.

                Got Pebble working, I do see some very minor upgrades. The putting physics have definitely improved. Slightly better shading, color and textures.

                  Have requested Carry Dispersion, but probably fell o deaf ears. Its vital, you do your numbers to carry and dispersion to carry and adjust for environment.

                    If you click on the table in the analysis, it will show carry numbers. On the bottom of that column is a standard deviation number. Is that what you are looking for?

                  No, I use STD Deviation with my players for some performance games, but we have have always wanted a dispersion map of carry so the offline Stat is when the ball first impacted the ground and not the finished shot with roll, as environmental conditions have an impact.
                  Wanted a setting in the skills test builder as well to score the points on carry and not total , wouldn’t be hard to do for a programmer to add a checkbox as they already have the carry result.
                  e6 , TrackMan creativegolf3d all have the option to look at dispersion on carry or total

                    I thought FSX2020 offline shows the finished position but the fitting app is offline carry?

                    Haven’t used it in a while, but have that overheard visual tracer in mind.

                    Oh you meant the old iPad app hehe, yes it’s offline refers to carry ..., proved they can do it and should be able to put it into fsx2020

                  Just tried and offline refers to Total, which is not really informative. Ideally the dispersion/ball strike quality performance game ( which is so easy to setup in e6) is you know your carry for a certain swing/club hit 10 balls and record your score 1pt or 0pt e.g carried within a 3yard radius circle ( wedges, irons 4 yards, fairway woods 5 yards, driver 10 yards) Do it weekly and track results, this helps with distance and knowing how well your ball striking is. But having total for your offline stat doesn’t help much, you could carry the same number every time but hitting left offline
