  • GCQuad with TGC up and running

I listed the steps I took to get this thing going. I just got done playing a round at a famous course down South where a big tourney was supposed to be held this weekend.

Step 1: Buy this: https://golfsimulatorstore.com/colle...13246583636067 - this part is a pain because you need to install protee and TGC and wait for all your licenses to come via email.

Step 2: Configure protee as instructed in other posts. Basically - you need to just change 1 setting to configure it to external data

Step 3: Install GQSX.com - pm me if you need this

Step 4: Connect the Quad to the computer via wifi

Step 5: Connect to internet either via ethernet cable or another wifi card and bridge connections - this allows to connect to internet and qcquad at the same time

Step 6: Launch Protee then GQSX (click on connect) then start TGC

It should now work. No needing all that other stuff like you do for the GC2.

Got it. Also I guess you don’t have to have a WiFi card if you don’t plan to play it online right?

Are some of the courses accessed online? They wouldn’t store all of them locally would they? Maybe d/l as you play.

You need a wifi card to connect to the gcquad. You need a SECOND wifi adapter (like a usb wifi adapter) if you ALSO want to connect online.

Is there a specific adapter you would recommend or will any off amazon due?

Can I just use the USB cable connect GCQuad to PC instead of wifi?

Thank you for this!! Have not played TGC since the Quad came out. This is a great option. Now whether to upgrade to TGC 2019 or not...

Using this method, I see no reason that E6 1.6 wouldn't work as well. Using the old GC2/ ProTee/ GSX interface E6 worked great.

Seems like the only difference here is applying the GCQuad and GQSX.

    Am I wrong?

MTHUNT tried it and validated ... E6 1.6 works great!! Wow! i’ve missed it since moving to GCQUAD . I must admit going back and playing a few holes in E6.... FSX2020 isn’t bad guys , i think i actually like it better.

So how is it with the quad? Is there a delay after hitting the shot or is it pretty instantaneous like on FSX? I agree FSX is brutal, I hope this works because I love the Quad.

The videos on YouTube show no delay.

Less delay using the Quad than the GC2 / bluetooth in my very limited experience having just set it up. Feels pretty instant or close enough to it not to be annoying at all.

I get a lot of delay. Sometimes up to 10 seconds, especially on chip shots. I just get used to it. For me, the trade of is worth it as opposed to fsx. Maybe it's because the wifi connection is slower than a direct cable from the quad.

I'm not sure about the Quad but on a GC2, if you get shot delays it's usually something to do with the Bluetooth either in settings or the adapter. If you are the only one getting delays I'd check those things.

Just purchased last night and got all the credentials I needed this morning. Playing offline now as I don’t have a WiFi card yet. Man how I wish this was available earlier. Now I feel like I can finally “play” golf on my GCQUAD.

Read above about a serious delay at times, getting any of that?

  • #24
No I didn’t get any delays at all. It was really good.

Took the TGC2019 plunge...certainly as awesome as everyone said. Was up and running within an hour or so of purchase, seamless setup and no noticeable shot delay. Had a quick few holes on the best rated Pebble and the course that shall not be named...spectacular.

Thank you to those who carved the pathway first and for the GSQX interface. Can’t wait to really get into it over the weekend.

I just got mine setup too and I agree with this, no delay at all. Almost instantaneous like in FSX. Now I need to just learn the TGC software and how to play Augusta!

Any ideas on what setting specifically to check for the delay problem? Thanks.

Guys, if you have wait for Club Data set to on you’ll be waiting for club data thus shot delay. Turn it off and it’ll be faster. Foresight sends several data packets. The first is direction and speed then spin then club data. You can see this on FSX when you hit a shot. If you want club data accept the delay or connect to FSX at the same time.

That would make a lot of sense. I don’t think I have this turned on, will check. Wait for spin maybe.

This is so awesome thanks so much for getting this set up. It was easier to get going than I expected. Only issue I had is the distance data wasn’t the same on Tgc as what was on the gc quad. Not sure why that is. Let me know if you have the same issues and a fix. Also Does it help if FSX is running at the same time?

TGC calculates the distance based on ball data. It has to take into account elevation change, fairway vs rough, wind etc

What are the differences?. Test on mthunt flat range. It’s the carry test gold standard. Post the numbers. My Gc2 is 2-4 yards longer in TGC.

I have club tracking turned off on the GCQuad itself. Is there somewhere else to turn off club data? Sorry for the noob question.
