I’m not even sure what this is but the search I did shows it’s a setting within FSX. Just wondering if anyone has any settings they recommend for Pebble in FSX 2020.
I regard Reshade as a must-have, game-changer, whatever you want to call it. Install Reshade over FSX 2020 (look at previous threads here, it's not scary for anyone savvy enough to be on a bulletin board).
My settings so far are the same as what has been suggested on earlier threads (sorry, I would identify but I am not using the same pc now). Maybe you can improve upon them, to your taste. But just doing the generally suggested thing is a huge improvement.
For video purists, yes it does exaggerate the contrast beyond what you would ideally have. But, in so doing it makes terrain changes stand out much more realistically than they do otherwise. FSX2020 does improve upon FSX2018. I discovered Reshade at the same time as 2020 so I never tried it with 2018, but I would say that FSX2020 by itself is a 15-20% graphics improvement over 2018, and Reshade is another 15-20% on top of that. Together, there is a HUGE difference.
And it cost zero. Just do it. The hugest no-brainer.

awesome! Well my GC2 comes tomorrow so I will experiment. I have downloaded FSX 2020 with the recent update and it doesn’t look terrible...but TGC 2019 on my PS4 is significantly better I will admit that.
PS IF anyone wants to attach a picture for the recommended settings that would be super helpful!
You’ll see it unfold when you install, you can literally tick the plugins off and on and the image changes before your eyes.
Some important notes...
1. During the install process point Reshade at the FSX exe file in the Foresight Experience folder
2. Select the first half dozen plugins from the list to install. I’m not sure exactly what are the right ones, so I just picked those that seemed about right based off title.
3. You have to run FSX as admin (right click) otherwise you will get an error message and Reshade either won’t work or you get a message box that won’t disappear.
4. It’ll ask you to press the “Home” key on launch, which isn’t that obvious to find. On my keyboard it’s the Function + “Home/End” options near “page up page down“.
5. Run as admin, Reshade auto launches, select filters and then escape to minimise. Program interface can reappear any time be pressing Home
I got the error message on it when I set it up and running FSX in admin did not solve the issue, but removing and installing Reshade as admin did solve it for me and I don’t need to start FSX as admin, FYI.
I have not played much with TGC 2019. What I think you will find is that it has better, more photo-realistic graphics than you can get out of FSX. It just does. But I think the ball physics in FSX are superior, and you ultimately get a more realistic game of golf with FSX even though the trees don't look as nice.
After playing around with TGC this week I think the only ball physics that don’t seem as good is putting and short chips. FSX2020 seems a lot better in comparison.
Adam you’re the man thanks for that. FSX seems super realistic. And Reshade based on what you told me looks so much better. I can actually visualize the shots based on the landscapes now even before playing any just off the free courses I’m super excited to use this as a game improvement tool. Eventually I’ll go crazy on the playing side. Ha.
Anyone else getting a red error across the top of their screen about default.ini not have proper permission (never goes away) and reshade settings not saving between sessions?
I just wrote this above, but will here again because I got the same thing...

Baller ...interesting, I uninstalled also, but run as admin is the only way I can get the text to disappear and also retain settings. This was even after adjusting properties to always run as admin.
I gave ReShade a try last night; i saw in other threads that people liked using "Colourfullness" and "FakeHDR".
I downloaded/installed all of the various packages, but couldn't find Colourfullness.
I also got the error message and eventually just decided to uninstall it.
Now that I see the fun as admin could be a fix, I'll try it again.
Couple of questions; when downloading Reshade, which version should i download? Direct3D9, or the 10/11/12 version or Vulkan?
I think I did 10/11/12.
I went Direct 3D9 as I assume this was referring to Direct X9 which I believe FSX uses as graphics engine. That said, I noticed references to 10/11/12 after install, so maybe it decided for itself??
You can change those things if you re-run the installation program. I can't answer what is correct as I did the default one and that worked but I had trouble finding the right filters as well and tried them all. It;s the very last one that references past versions.
Are you guys seeing changes to your monitor or projected screen after running Reshade? is this www.reshade.me the URL? Running FSX2020 and try to get the most out of a 10x10 screen.
That is the correct URL. I just installed it tonight, and I can see the changes... especially when toggling on/off repeatedly. Depends which plugins you use, but i'm using FakeHDR, Vibrance, Levels, and a Sharpen one (can't recall the name right now).
Does this Reshade software make other golf software look better such as E6 and TGC19?
Yes, it has the same effect.
I have it installed to use with TGC2019 and I have a love-hate relationship with it. It makes things brighter and really makes the colors pop. However, I find that it also gives it a more high-contrast look and the edges of objects can look a little more rough and blocky and not quite as smooth.
I have a shortcut key on my keyboard so I can easily toggle it on and off. I think it looks good on some courses but not on others. So typically on the first hole I'll use the hot key to turn it on and off a couple times and decide if I want to play that particular course with it on or off. It's a sometimes friend for me.
Shardak Hey there, I moved the topic away from TGC2019. So I got ReShade to this point in the screenshot, but no farther. I hit home key to remove this
