  • 1 dot or 4 dot mode?

New owner of a GC Quad as of last Friday. I have the club data as well and have put the 4 dots on most of my clubs. I noticed on the LCD screen on the GCQ it shows the graphic "1 dot mode". What does that mean and should I be able to change it to "4 dot mode"? I have not found any guidance in the Foresight manual.

Chances are that your dots are not installed correctly and it’s only reading one shot. Should differentiate automatically.

As said above, is automatic when the dots are all reading correct.

But the other possibility is what happened to me...the club data license was not activated properly, either by my rep or by Foresight. It was shipped with a 30 day club data license, after which I lost 4-dot club data (but strangely retained 1-dot).

This might not be your issue, but is worth a check. Scroll through your menu options and make sure you can see club data on. Should say something like club “on” and putting “on/off’

Dots wear out and get damaged. 1 dot gives CHS, Path, AOA, and Smash. It's enough for most. You need to figure out which sticker wore out and replace it.

This is a good reference. It's fron the HMT quick start guide, but it's the same for Quad. You can vary the dots a little bit, but they have to be in those general locations. Also, make sure you don't have a tee blocking the ball or part of it, or you might get a 1 dot reading.

Same Chart is in the GCQuad quickstart guide.

Thanks I will have to try and reset my dots and see if I notice it pick it up. The dots I used were the ones provided and brand new, so no wear. Club Data was set to "On" on the menu and it shows the Putting Data as the 30 day trial.

I will try positioning more exact to the diagrams and also make sure nothing else is on the mat that may be picked up and report back.

4-dot mode is much more informative, you want to get that going if you are trying to understand your swing. AoA and clubhead speed are useful from 1-dot, but club path, face-to-path, and lie angle are all very instructive for swing analytics. It should work automatically as others said. I guess you probably have a license issue that Foresight should straighten out.

Related question: one thing I have wondered is whether, if you don't have the two dots on the same groove exactly aligned, it will give you a wrong lie angle reading. If not, how does it see that? This is extremely precise and it should not depend on how well you place the dots, but I don't know how the system works otherwise. Anyway it does seem pretty consistent to me, this issue aside.

I will see that I am seeing AoA and the other stats like face-to-path (which is really value/struggle with). So I believe I am getting on FSX the readings and hopefully they are accurate, but just on the GCQ itself it saying "1 dot mode" on the lower right of the screen when I am getting ready to hit. I was not sure if it should say 4 Dot

It should give you all that information on the GCQ screen too. Something is not right, not sure what it is though.
