    GC2 battery replacement

    Hello,

I need a replacement battery for my GC2. Last time I needed one, Foresight wanted to charge me an obscene “registration” fee because I bought my GC2 used, and wouldn’t sell me parts, so a member here helped out and bought one for me.

Fast forward three years, and I need a battery again. Is there a better way to get one in 2020? I know some places rebuild them, but I don’t know of any local to me, so ideally I’d like to just buy a replacement.

    Thanks,

    -Bob

I had my battery rebuilt from a BatteryPlus store. The guy who rebuilds them told me the battery uses a specific cell type and only certain mfg's are any good. Cost went from $45 to $75 because of the 'better' cells. Works fantastic and I never called Foresight. If you don't have a battery place near you, I wonder if you could mail it into one in your State?! I do not believe you can buy them anywhere online which is not helpful either!

I'm not opposed to shipping it out, does anyone know if the unit still works with the battery not in it?

Good question - I did not try that! I had two dead batteries - brought one to Battery Plus - kept the other in the GC2 until the battery rebuild was done.

      No other ideas?

Carl- I'm surprised I didn't keep my dead battery, but I'm not finding it.

Certainly worth trying to pull out the battery from GC2 then see if it still boots up. If it does then you just have to get the dead battery to a rebuild store. Wish I had another idea to try....

Yes they still work without the battery in, I had a new battery built by a shop and they needed to use the connection from the old one. Carried on using fine
