Hi all, I'm thinking of purchasing a GC2. I currently own a skytrak and run TGC2019 on it. My questions are is it really worth the move onto a gc2?? Theres one on ebay at the moment where I think I could get it for a good price under 4k. Has ayone gone this route before? Buying second hand from ebay etc.?? Is there a charge to switch Tgc2019 from skytrak to GC2???

I did the same thing not to long ago. Short game is much more accurate and also it's much better for temporary setup that i use.
I do miss skytrak range for $100 a year vs 3 grand for fsx for basically range functionality. -
I did the switch last year and never regret about the decision. There's merely no delay on GC2 comparing to the 2 to 3 seconds waiting after hitting the ball on Skylark. I keep Skytak to pair with e6 Connect as a spare, but haven't much chance to use them.Comment

Yes, there's a charge to switch from Skytrak to GC2.
Verify with an email to Protee to ensure you have a case later though (in the event they say it's not transferable).

I was in your shoes about 2 months ago. If all you are going to do is play TGC 2019 then keep Skytrak. But, if you are wanting to improve your game, then get GC2 and buy FSX 2020. It's a little pricey, but it has the driving range, skills challenege, closest to the pin, long drive, all with live leaderboards. And it lets you play and practice on individual holes.Comment

I have been looking at fsx, but £3000 extra is just too far out of budget for me. To be honest I'm very torn on what to do, due to the range features of skytrak which I use alot. As you said just to play tgc2019 is a bit of waste although I've been looking into the protee software and creative golf 3d. Wonder if anyone could shine light on what they are like for range practice etc.Comment

I think Creative Golf has a good range and feature set there.

I also did the same I switched from Skytrak to GC2 about 6 months ago. No way did I want to pay 3K for range software and a few courses so I just kept my Skytrak. I use the Skytrak to warm up and for range practice then for TGC I use the GC2.Last edited by simmb; 05-26-2020, 08:04 AM.Comment

I just switched myself and was able to pick up the FR1 software for around $500. It's great for the range and practice. I got some courses with it and it lets you practice from anywhere on any hole. Even though the graphics aren't great it works. I wish TGC 2019 had some better practice options built in or even the ability to play different formats or jump to specific holes on a course.Comment

Yeah I know, I have TGC 2019 as well. The course variety and graphics are great, but it's very cumbersome jumping around like you said. If I want to play 7 or 18 at Pebble Beach in FR1 I just jump straight to the hole and play. I can also place the ball anywhere on the hole and practice the shot over and over. To jump to 18 in TGC and practice you would have to concede every hole and then hit to a spot you want to practice from and set it to rewind shot. Not worth the effort. The real strength of TGC is the online play, graphics, and course variety, definitely not practice.

I would just buy FR1 software dongle from someone here/ebay. you can get it for 500-700ish with courses. the graphics aren't great, but I really don't care about that when I'm mostly just using it for range practice.Originally posted by Rthomas28 View Post

Recently in the past month of quarantine though I've really started playing a lot more tgc2019 and have been having much more fun with that vs just hitting hundreds of range balls a day.Comment
