  • Upgrade to GCQ or add HMT?

    Hello,

I have had a GC2 for close to 4 years now. It got a lot of use through the winter when I first got it, then I moved to a new house and it has seen some use in the summer here and there. Now I finally am getting to the end stages of my golf sim room, and am getting a ton of use out of it again. Right now my focus is on improving my game, and 99% of my use has been on the FSX range. I'd really like to have club head data, and am considering the differences between upgrading to GCQ or adding HMT.

From what I can tell, the logical decision is to add HMT. I'm looking at like $3500-$4500 used, vs about $10,000 to upgrade ($11,000 GCQ plus $4000 for clubhead add on minus $5000 ish to sell my GC2, I already have FSX 2020 so I think they wouldn't require me to buy that?) From what I read, the accuracy difference is negligible (twice as accurate but the GC2 is so accurate anyway that the difference isn't noticeable, right?)

That said, the GCQ is still in consideration. I understand it has less misreads, which is really nice. I hit about eight 56 degree wedge shots in a row yesterday that didn't register, and that can be particularly frustrating when playing a sim round. The larger hitting area would be nice also, as I assume that it would be large enough that I could set it up so that it would read the fixed tee, an iron shot, and a putting strip all at once? The alignment stick feature would be nice also.

Any other benefits I'm missing? Anyone make the jump that wouldn't mind sharing their thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Very good, if I can get one for a good price I will buy it.

Mine came in yesterday! No time to do much other than take a couple of swings (I haven't even put stickers on any clubs yet) but so far I like it! Looking forward to over analyzing the hell out of my swing.

Anyone know what the transfer fee is for the Quad? Same as GC2? $500?

I thought the quad was $1000. I’m sure it can be haggled down.

When I talked to Foresight while buying my Forecaddy, they explained that you just need to spend $500 with them. I'd much rather buy some courses or some accessories than pay a fee for nothing. Confirm with Foresight of course, but that is what Jon Waters told me at least.
