So over the past 2 weeks my sim has been up (still a couple of things to finish) but the projector is up, unit aligned and screen and surround up, so I thought I would test the GC2 out over the past few days. A bit of background, my shot for 20 years of playing has been a slight pull fade, quite minor when I strike it well. Sometimes, I will block a horrible one out to the right.
On GC2 90% of shots are a severe hook, up to 100 yards left of target, but usually in the 30-40 yard range....had one today with 6000 spin left!!!. On strikes where I know I have hit the ball really well, it will hook really badly. I wasn't sure if this was an indoor thing - I am hitting offset to the screen to the right so I thought maybe the alignment might be throwing things off, but have tried everything, even trying to purposely wipe across the ball. Same thing, mostly a hook.
I went out this morning to the range, though didn't take the GC2 as I had a few other errands and didn't want to leave it in the car (will do that tomorrow). All my shots were as normal, a slight pull to the left with a fade.
I guess the acid test will be tomorrow with the GC2, but right now I have little confidence in the unit.
I also tried raising the unit about 7/8 inch above the ball level, no difference.
Guess I will learn more tomorrow, but it's really really odd for me to such massive hooks - never ever happened on the range or the course in 20 years.
I've seen some talk of this draw bias, with some even saying, yes it does have bias indoors after a lot of testing. The problem is that I set up my sim purely for practice, not really playing courses. I feel as though this will actually be worse for my swing than less regular practice outdoors- ending up fighting an imaginary hook and then when playing on an actual course all those bad habits fixing a sim situation will be detrimental.
Is it just a case of having to live with it?
