  • WiFi issues- can't connect to GCQ and internet at the same time even w/ two adapters

OK, this is a follow up to a recent thread I made about hooking up the GCQ via WiFi and still being able to connect to the internet. My sim room doesn't have an ethernet connection in it, so I added a USB WiFi adapter and can connect to both at the same time (one WiFi on the internet, the other on the GCQ). However, FSX won't connect to the GCQ when I'm connected to both. It sees it, but fails to connect.

Does anyone have a workaround for this? Maybe a setting I'm missing? It is really a pain to boot up FSX, start a course, flip to the GCQ, and then flip to full screen every time I want to do anything at all with my sim.

I would use a power line adapter. It allows your existing electrical wiring to transfer data like preinstalled Ethernet cables... Just plug one end into a socket by your router and the other end into a socket by your computer, plug Ethernet into them and you have a wired connection... Then just connect to the quad via WiFi and your off. Probably more stable than 2 Wi-Fi connections anyway.

try turning off IPV6 on the adapters and see if that makes a difference. should be easy to find in windows 10 it is "change adapter settings"

Good idea, thought of it myself but my garage where my sim is built is on a different box, so if I’m not mistaken, it won’t work. Heck, I have a pair of them already, I’ll go try in case!

Yep, I use those wall outlet power adapters for Ethernet too, works a treat.

With your wifi, did you try bridging the connection between the adapters? That may be required, which I’m pretty sure is in control panel > internet connections

I'll try that also. The powerline adapter didn't work as I thought would be the case. My network room is on a different electrical panel than my sim room, so they don't actually connect.
