  • Metal GC2 Enclosure

I have had several people ask if I could design a metal enclosure since Foresight discontinued their "shank tank". I have a preliminary design that I was hoping to get feedback on. To try and minimize the cost, I was thinking about leaving the back open. In my view, the main advantage of covering the back was that you could lock the GC2 inside for retail locations. I don't think it adds any protection from an errant shot, so my thinking is that most home users wouldn't care. It looks like I could sell this design for around $150 + shipping if I get them made in batches of 10. They would be powder coated black. It has slots for the HMT arm as well. Since the plastic shield sells for $200, that seems like a good value to me, but if you guys think that price would be too high I won't move forward with having them made. I would be using a local metal shop that I have done business with in the past rather than outsourcing it overseas, and I don't want to sink a whole bunch of money into inventory by ordering a large quantity, which makes the manufacturing cost a little higher than I was hoping. (ignore the black line on the left top part of the enclosure, that is an artifact of my CAD software)

Thats great could you notify me when they are ready please. Do you have any recent pics? Also does the gc2 fit inside just like on a normal flat surface with the front stand down or is it folded up?

I’m not going to try and keep a list of people who say they will buy one, but I’m getting 25 made this time so they won’t sell out too quickly. If after a week or two I have some left I will go back through and send messages to people who expressed interest. And if there are still lots of people looking to buy them I will just order another batch.

How can I get one of those first 25? Just bought a GC2 this week, and would like to the metal protection.

Stre I will post on here when they are ready. Then you can send payment with PayPal to gc2flash@gmail.com. It will probably take me a few days to get them all shipped out

ID:	301816 I’m just waiting on the feet to come in. They are supposed to be delivered on Tuesday so I will start taking orders on Wednesday. To start with, I’m not going to sell the enclosure and back piece separately. If I get stuck with a bunch of them then I will consider doing that, but I also don’t want to get stuck with a bunch of back pieces. Last time almost everyone wanted a back anyway. The cost is $205 for the enclosure and back piece and $25 for shipping within the US. I will discount it $5 if you do PayPal fiends and family to save me the fees. I will ship internationally this time but you will need to email me for a shipping quote.

I read before you made the flash opening bigger. Does that help with missed reads on high launch angle shots?

I’m not sure if it would make any difference. I hadn’t seen that problem before with my old foresight shank tank

I think I have sent everyone who placed an order today a tracking number at this point. If you haven't received one, let me know. I still have plenty of enclosures left as well in case anyone else is interested.

No, that one isn't me. The ones that I was making were not a puzzle piece design like the etsy one. Unfortunately, making them the way that I did meant they cost significantly more to make and took up a lot of room to store, so I stopped selling them.

andygg1986 got it, makes sense considering how robust they look being metal made. yours and the etsy one looks/ed great!
