Looking to buy a GC2, whats required?

    Hi All,

I am a long time lurker looking for either a GC2 or Flightscope X2 / Elite. I am getting a good deal on a GC2 but don't really know much about them. What is the security dongle people are talking about and what software would I need to run it? I also see something about a flash, I have no idea what that is. Does the Flightscope also require a special dongle?

I am going to be using this unit at home and at the driving range which is why I am only looking at these 2. I want the ability to use it on an IPAD or Surface Pro (I'm hoping its Windows compatible) as I see on videos on YouTube.

Any other information you can provide to a newbie would be greatly appreciated.

The dongle for a GC2 is to run some versions of foresights software if it's included. The GC2 can be run with many different 3rd party software programs, which is one of the nice things about it. You aren't stuck with only their software. The flash is a consumable item which eventually fails, it is held in place by two screws and easily replaceable. You can buy one from foresight which is around 500 or you can get an aftermarket one from a forum member on here for 150. Lots of people including myself use the aftermarket version. If you plan on using it at a range you need a GC2 with an A version to use it with an ipad.
