    GC2 Refurb - Software Options

    Hey guys,

I recently returned my Mevo+ as it was not working well in my indoor garage setup. I have now been in touch with a GC2 rep and am looking at purchasing a GC2 certified pre-owned unit for around $6k CDN.

I know this question has been answered before but I can't find anything recent. I am still learning about the GC2 so can anyone tell me what options I would have for software on a current certified pre-owned unit? I have read some information about firmware updates and not sure if this interferes with the ability to play on third party software? I just can't wrap my head around spending $4,200 CDN for their proprietary software.

Thank you all and sorry again if this is a duplicate of a current thread.

GC2 works fine on TGC. It does not need FSX like the Quad does

Fr1 is foresights old software? Does Fr1 have course play and online multiplayer play?
FSX2020 is their current software being offered to me at $4200 CDN I assume.
TGC and TGC 2019 - where would I purchase licenses for these? Is one recommended over the other? Are these favorable?

Thanks for both of your replies

If I want a cheaper option, I see FR1 with like 90 courses on ebay for $250 but it requires a security dongle. How would you get one of those?

            Thanks!

If you look for game play TGC 2019 is the way to go. I got the GC2 refurb earlier this year and works like a charm. I use TGC 2019 for gameplay which has many courses and great graphics. Works great. All the GC2 does is capture and sent the data to the PC. You could use an iPad app via Bluetooth to see your shots too without a PC but that’s it, no course / game play. I heard FSX is great for game improvement but it’s 3k with only some courses. If you add E6 to fsx it’s another 2-3k. So 1k for TGC 2019 vs 3000 to 6000 for fsx alone or with E6 for great graphics. Again if you want to improve your game and have the cash fsx 2020 is great but ya need $$.
FR1 graphics are not great but I have the tools for game improvements.

$6k Cdn seems like a pretty good price on a cert preowned.

$6k is after taxes too and it comes with new superflash, battery, shield, 6 month warranty. There is an option with just new superflash & 30 day warranty for $1k cheaper after taxes.

There is someone selling FR1 security dongle in Toronto for $700 firm but IMO it’s over priced. $500 and I might bite.

ps. Excuse my low post count. Lurk quite a bit for a few years when I bought a used Xi+ from a member here. Moved in a GC2 recently for sim play (didn’t realize I can make golf simulator work in my garage until recently, lol).

FR1 would be like buying a black and white tv to watch football. TGC2019 is a grand. Why would you want a black and white tv?

Cause a black and white 📺 is better than no TV at all??I used it for testing stuff. TGC2019 is awesome. I never play rounds of golf elsewhere.

Yes. In the 50’s B&W was amazing. Times have changed.

I agree with Mthunt. TGC2019 is a really sweet deal. IMO, the best graphics by far. The course creation software is really cool as well. Look at the courses the Mthunt created..... some of them with the accuracy of lidar.

Good point. Some people put covers on irons still.

TGC is definitely the way to go but I would use FR1 for the driving range function.

Try running both at the same time using HMT data in FR1 while playing TGC. Boom.

Is FR1 the cheapest way to see HMT data on the screen? Have an ipad but unable to connect to bluetooth at same time as I am connected to TGC2019 on the PC. Would really like some form of game improvement software. TGC great for playing
