Its ass backwards for the settings.. I had the same issue on "full graphics" you want it on "full performance". The full graphics was giving me a super grainy look on fairways and greens. Full performance gets rid of that.

OMG, just trying to help a guy with his settings that maybe off and this damn forum always turns it into a debate about graphics. If you like TGC better fine play it. I think you each have about 40 posts where you say how FSX graphics sucks. Geez, we get it you don't like fine. Move on. I'll post some pics in the next few days. When I say it looks terrible, I get the feeling that I'm having the same experience as everyone else. I'll try it on "Full Performance" and see if that changes anything. When I say "terrible" I simply mean that it looks terrible for living in 2020. It just sucks that you don't get the club head data on E6 (I've read this, but not confirmed). But it's worth it for the equipment and the range. I really didn't buy it for entertainment, but for practice.Comment

We noticed the same thing and thought it was the projector so we upgraded that to a 1080p..some improvement but then we checked the FSX setting and you need to make sure the settings match the projector. When we checked FSX was set to VGA...as soon as we set it 1920 it improved.Comment

So I went through a similar internal thought process when we were selecting the Launch Monitor and software. I wanted the Quad but wanted "better" software. Having played on FSX2020 now for about 6 months I am not sure that I will move to something else .... at least not in the short term. From all accounts the software in FSX2020 has the most accurate ball flight and this certainly is seen on the range. For on course play - I guess I agree that it certainly has room for improvement but I do not find it distracting in any way - and again, I prefer the accuracy to a better picture as for me this is all about improvement rather than a video game.
I guess my point is you need to look at the whole picture (no pun intended) and decide what aspects are most important - no system has it all. I also think that the setup impacts PQ to a fairly large degree. Combination of Computer (RAM, Graphics Card and Chip), Projector (Brightness vs room ambient, Resolution (only so much you can expect on a 720P projection at 16 feet across standing 6 feet back ....), proper setup) and screen (so many variations) again makes up the whole story. If PQ is important, then I think you might be better off optimizing these areas first before moving on to other software.
Just my view however and not meant to spawn debate. Everyone will have their own priorities and therefore come to different conclusions.Comment

I've been saying that for a long time now as well. You pick what's important to you. Those graphics on the other engines look great, but my goal is to improve my on course play so I'm good.
I just upgraded my projector after 7 years and now it's like FSX is brand new. These laser projectors make a hell of a difference!!! Wish I'd done this sooner.Comment

Yes I'm definitely with Foresight for the hardware. But just as I'm setting it up now, am I missing any settings? I have a RTX 2070 and have graphics all the way up, native resolution. Abu Dhabi 1st hole. I have a GCHawk so TGC isn't an option. A couple more days until I hang the Hawk and a new Optoma 1090HDR + Carl's Premium screen. I'm sure on the screen it will look better not vs my monitor but any setup tricks appreciated so it looks its best.Comment

There's only so much that can be done to improve graphics as far as the quality of the projector, graphics card and screen go. At the end of the day, it's just outdated software. If you took a video game that was released 10 years ago and hooked it up to the best computer with the best graphics card and sent it through the best projector onto the best screen, it's still going to look like a 10 year old game.

I recommend using Reshade. Significantly -- really significantly -- improves FSX 2020 graphics on the projected image. There are several threads on this board that explain how to set it up and configure it. It's free of charge.Comment

+1 on Reshade. It's easy and you can make it look better to you and in your setting and it stays that way. You can turn it off or uninstall any time.Comment
