GC2 ignoring the strike

In the middle of a session today the GC2 stopped reading the strike. I would suspect it's the flash, but from reading about it when the flash doesn't work it would still recognise the shot and just show --- --- --- --- for the data.

In my case, it's different:
- the ball is placed - the unit goes green light
- the ball is hit - the unit goes to searching for ball, no shot data of any kind is displayed

The unit is a very early serial and runs ver.4.0.0.12.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Make sure your matt is clean and there are no broken tees or other trash around the hitting area. Sometimes that can cause a problem.
If you can have someone else hit a ball and stand back and watch the flash you can see it if it goes off.

Chances are it's the flash unit. I had this very thing happen awhile back. I suspect there are two modes of flash unit malfunction. In one case it kind of flashes but can get usable data from the pictures. In the other case is it doesn't flash at all and gets no pictures.

As an interim measure you can try reloading the firmware. You do not have the latest version which is 4.0.0.15.

Every now and then electronic devices lose a bit or two from the flash memory where the firmware resides because the stored charge in a memory device leaks off. That probably isn't your problem but it is a no cost attempt to get back up and running.

Thank you very much for the replies and advice! On the software side, I'm a bit cautious as those things always more likely to break things than fix them
