  • True Strike Mat, GC Quad and a tee.

I have a simulator set up with GC2, HMT and Country Club elite mat. I like that I can use a tee on the country club elite matt but I don't like the hitting surface for irons. I am considering getting a True Strike mat. With that and GC2 I can no longer use a tee. I'll have to go to those hitting cones.

My question is with GC Quad and a True Strike mat can you hit irons off the gel section and use a tee to the side of the gel section and still be in the hitting area.. Rain or Shine says I can do it with GC2 so I don't trust their judgement. Long story short I am considering selling the GC2 and HMT and buying Quad with club reading but I don't know if it will solve this problem.

    I hope that makes sense.

If you turn club analysis off, the hitting area is very large -- so, yes it is very doable depending upon the size of the True Strike, the placement of your TrueStrike insert, and the placement of the Quad. I have been contemplating doing the same thing.

I have a GC Quad and a True Strike Mat. I have no issues at all with hitting irons of the gel section and using a tee to the side of gel section. I also have club data enabled. Hitting area is more than big enough. Hope this helps.

      Cheers

That's just what I wanted to know.

Yup, you just need to put it all in the right place. I hit irons off gel and driver above it.

Bill, we also have CCE mat and are considering changing. Would love to hear your feedback on the comparisons once you are up and running. Thanks

Although I didn’t have the CCE long, I just switched from it to the SwingTurf mat from rain or shine golf. They claim it’s the perfect balance between punishing your joints and overly-forgiving mats.

In my case I noticed the firmness of the CCE within the first week and could tell I wasn’t going to like it over time so I ordered the ST mat. I was surprised to feel that the ST actually feels more firm when you stand on it (the CCE is very spongy but grabs a fat shot like crazy).

Despite being more firm to stand on, the ST mat is much more forgiving on fat shots. It still slows the club way down but (I think) because it’s a bit firmer, you tend to bounce off the mat and through the swing a bit more versus the CCE that really jars your arms when you swing down on it.

These are the only 2 mats I’ve tried so I can’t answer the exact question but thought this might be of interest given your complaints about the CCE.
