  • FSX Pro?

What have we here on their website today? Could this be the supposed free upgrade? And by free I mean in foresight terms 500-1000 clams..
Nothing on the site about gc2/hmt..guess it’s being put out to the farm...

I got an email today. There was a link to download FSX Pro for PC today, said IPad would be out 2/8, and a footnote said that FSX Pro for GC2 would be out 2/8.
So I infer that it's currently only working on the Quad. I guess I won't be downloading this coming weekend then. I hope the IPad version supports the GC2 from the start.
My initial guess is that the Pro app doesn't do much new that FSX cannot do, but the interface makes it easier to visualize differences in distance and dispersion, and makes it easier to send a nice report as a teaching pro would.
One thing that would be nice is a report showing a hotspot visual of ball contact locations on a clubface for an entire session (assuming Quad or HMT). FSX actually shows it on screen in the app, but doesn't generate an exportable visualization.
The website shows a new 3d-ish visualization of distance and R/L misses. To bad they cannot show a multicolor distance plus dispersion chart. Or statistics for data ike standard deviation which is basic programming. Foresight statisticians seem to only know average, max and min.
I wonder if they will fix their low-spin driver flight distance ball flight model? Or spin decay? Seems like a pro fitter or coach would care about that too.

FSX2020 shows standard deviation in Table view. Pro shows it right on the screen in front of you (with last shot and avg), which is handy.

It is live now, and was really interested. It looks better for teaching. However, just read the online manual and Swing camera’s are not supported at the moment, so thats a big let down for me.

I took a look at the video, looks like they will offer standard deviation in their new calculations and visualizations. And easy quick tagging, so a different club or even a different swing could be compared. So this looks like a nice application, assuming they get it working for my GC2/HMT

I got an email saying its free with a link to download it. Got to have current FSX account. I am at work now but will try tonight when I get home. GC2 available Feb 10th and Ipad version Feb 10th as well. Windows available now to download.

Does anyone have FSX 2020 via dongle? FSX Pro will not recognize my FSX license when I add my login credentials. I sent an email to support but I suspect it's a dongle vs online issue.

Downloaded last night and its pretty nice. I teach, this will be a valuable resource for me. It is set up to work a dual screen which is nice. I still need to mess with it to figure out all the capabilities but gives you a ton of data that FSX2020 does not provide. I like it!

Totally agree. I don't teach, but was impressed they set it up for dual screen. I messed around with tagging and hitting different clubs and then examining the data. Now, I wish I had bought the club data module! I really did not like the "Chase Camera" view. Didn't see an option to add a pin or target on the range to give you something to aim at (besides just hitting down the center line).

Yea, I noticed putting a target on range was not an option. The camera chase option is not the best and it splits screen which shows a random green which was weird. I could not find an option to interchange the dual screens either. The data screen is the one I was hitting into and I would like to put it on tv that is on the side of my hitting area.

I have a monitor, tv and a hitting screen, but unfortunately FSX Pro does not allow you to choose, where to put what on which screen or didn't I see some config? On FSX2020 you can choose which screen should display, but if you have different resolutions it still messes up, Foresight software is buggy like hell :-(

I downloaded it today. Was a bit surprised that it is a separate app, not a new upgraded version of FSX 2020.

I did not explore the whole thing, but I like how it's possible to configure club and ball data on the screen, so you can see last shot and average instantly rather than having to click around in the FSX2020 range. It also looks like they might be using a different graphics engine -- the trees in particular look different than in FSX 2020. Not necessarily better, but different.

I will need to play around with it some more before I decide whether I prefer using Pro or 2020 for practice. I assume Pro should be superior for things like wedge gapping, which is presumably what it's designed for.

Anyway, an interesting new toy and the price was right. Curious to hear others' reactions to it.

I also downloaded and installed. I like it a lot more than FSX2020 for purely practicing. Like others have said, the information is displayed in a much more user friendly manner.

              AND, I love the price.

Initial disclaimer that I don't have a QCQ or TM yet. Pros and cons of each. Leaning GCQ but curious why can't Foresight create a better range like Trackman has? When I frist saw pics of the range in FSX Pro I was hopeful seeing the greens and bunkers to the right. But it appears of no use. I love the TM range and the multiple targets, the ability to play 'real' shots. Seems so simple to do.

If "real" shots are the goal you can also set up any hole from any course you own as a "Range" and hit as many shots as you like.

Yes, but that doesn't allow you to quickly access most/all shots without having to switch holes and or courses. If you haven't seen their range watch this quick video. If there are ways to emulate that on GCQ let me know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwScCabi0gg

                      A GC2 version is available now. v1.3.1.0

The centre line is misaligned if using your correct FSX2020 setup, the shot panel (left) when maximised and minimised it actually connected to the Main Container and pushes it left and right rather than sitting on top and not disturbing the visual centre line.

The alignment line is taken from room setup utility, which I think most people will have setup for FSX2020, try it...go to FSX Pro and see views are misaligned. Its shifted right. But obviously if you change it in the room setup, when you come and play FSX2020 it will be off-centre! Needs fixing.

GC2 - No bluetooth yet (USB only) presume will fix this next week.

Got a counter saying 9 sessions, but I cant get into any of the historic session data (like you can with Trackman), user management is ticked ON.

Its a good start though, I like the Group Data stuff.

Hi vrpunk - have you had any success getting a version to connect over Bluetooth? I'm still only seeing v 1.3.1 which does not allow me to connect via bluetooth. I'm loathe to connect wired, as in the past that has caused me issues bouncing between wired and bluetooth and then trying to connect for TGC. I'd love to use FSX Pro, but the release date of the 8th for GC2 over bluetooth connection doesn't seem to have materialized?

I also noticed the Pro center line is shifted left/view shifted right. I don't want to mess with the room setup config.

I also did not see Pro link up with FSX Live, whereas FSX 2020 does that automatically when you sign in. That's a drawback if you want to save your session, you need to do it manually, somewhere else.

So this is interesting. I downloaded and installed Pro this weekend. What is interesting is that I did not have any offset issues (was looking specifically for this). It also asked my to log into FSX Live when I started the program - so my session was in fact saved (I cut the info off of the picture I took, but the FSX Live account name and profiles are to the left of the blue line on the left side of the screen along with the various shots). Pic is a 50 degree SM8. Also seeing pretty accurate spin #s if I am not mistaken.

What I thought was great is that it allowed me to add additional profiles which I again saved (wife, kids etc. - not sure if there is a maximum # or not). Played around with all the data points avail (granted I have club data avail). I have way too many displayed but I thought it was cool you could add & delete to customize your display. I also really appreciated the different views available - I like the club data one personally.

Mine asked me to log into FSX Live initially and now it automatically logs me in each time. The release of FSX Pro now makes me want to purchase the club data module. I really like hitting at the range (without all the delays between shots) and then coming back to my computer monitor to see the numbers.

I purchased the club data add-on this week. I'm hoping it gets activated tomorrow (Friday), otherwise will most likely happen on Monday.
