  • Shipping Insurance for GC2 RMA

Looking for some opinions here. I need to send my GC2 back to Foresight for an RMA. I'm trying to decide how much insurance to purchase for it at roughly $10 per $1000 of insurance. It is packaged well in the original box so I'm not too concerned about it getting damaged but with UPS you never know plus there is the risk of it getting lost.

I'm leaning towards $50 for $5000 of insurance but wanted to see what some of you would do.

    Thanks.

I would insure it for the value of the gc2 (not sure how much they are). Like you said, never know with UPS losing it, especially now during the holidays and the pandemic buying/shipping delays going on. An extra $50 or whatever it is, is worth it for the peace of mind, imo

I would insure for the full replacement value. If you had to replace it how much would foresight charge you these days to get one?

One thing with UPS is that if you print the label at home and insure it for $5000, you won’t be able to drop it off at a UPS store because those are franchises and they won’t sign the form that comes with the insurance. You can sometimes get a UPS driver to sign it if you pay for a pickup, but their official stance last time I checked was you are supposed to drop it off yourself at a distribution center. In my case that was over half an hour away. I think when you go to a ups store and buy insurance then you should be fine, it’s just an issue when you are printing it at home.

The UPS drivers are supposed to sign the forms. In fact I believe the form even says it should be signed by the driver. Make sure you keep a copy of the signed form.

The UPS stores charge huge markups on shipping and insurance. It will definitely be more expensive to use a UPS store vs. buying a label at UPS.com.

Yes, I've had the drivers sign those forms every time and I always ship my clubs and done so more times than I can count. BUT, see if you can add your unit to your homeowners valuables policy and it would b e covered if you ship it without using UPS insurance. My quad is insured that way, but they may have made an exception because I have so much insured with them. (so I no longer need to do this for clubs and for quad)
