  • Buying a used GC2 from the US for use in Canada

Sorry if this has already been covered on the forum but I couldn't find a lot of info on it. I live in Canada and I have the opportunity to purchase a used GC2 from a friend who lives in the US. Before proceeding I wanted to do my due diligence and make sure I'm not walking into a mess. I can also get the computer that is currently running the software so possibly that will solve a potential issue? Any info would be appreciated.

Call Foresight directly (either Canada or US) and ask. There may be a licensing transfer fee but I can't imagine there would be a technical issue.

There will be a fee to transfer the FSX to you

I bought one out of the US 2 years ago and am using it in Canada on FSX and E6 with no issues.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember what the costs were to get it running? Foresight said there will be a $500usd fee for support and license transfer. I'm assuming there will be some kind of a fee for the FSX portion as well?

Don’t listen to them. Nothing required. Just use it.

If you have the login information from the original user or if they’re willing to do it, I believe they can deactivate FSX in their FSX Live account and then you can reactivate it in your FSX live account without contacting Foresight. You’ll only need to pay the $500 if you need technical support or really want the GC2 in your name in their database.
