  • FSX 2020 “Improve” - what is so special?

I recently built a sim and have a GC2 with FSX 2020 and TGC 2019. Trying to understand when folks say FSX2020 is better for game improvement, what they are talking about? I’ve noticed the FSX range is nice with shot tracking lines and logs. I’m aware of the HMT device, but don’t have it.

I am analytical and looking for improvement. What else is the differentiation?

Thanks in advance for helpful replies.

Try the custom skill challenges, build them to suit your game then repeat weekly, the tools are there but you have to self track performance (excel). I use it with Elite Juniors and we can see how their wedges are improving and their dispersion with long irons
I build the skill tests directly using the xml file inside the FSX folder.

Thanks for the tip re: editing XML files. The form in the software is frustratingly slow to use.

For me it’s just the presentation of the data and the way it’s packaged. But, even in that regard I’m more concerned with club data than ball. Though you don’t have an HMT there’s still lots of relevant data provided you know what your looking for. I look at club path and dynamic loft, I’m trying to bring my ball flight down and narrow my starting direction, without club data I could focus on launch angle and start direction. The data is more subject to other factors but at the end of the day lower is lower . Or if you want faster is faster, farther is farther.

my suggestion, pick something you want to improve/change and watch your numbers. Log into your fsx account and compare sessions and you can literally see your improvement over time.

Yup, you don't need an HMT to see where the ball is going and work to correct it. You may be wrong about what's causing it, but you can still see it and the Skills Challenge is a MUST. I stopped using it regularly and my game has suffered!

Thanks for the tips. I definitely have some swing goals and work to do so will give those approaches a try.

I have been reviewing the different options in FSX and found the "skills challenge" under "netplay", but seems it is online against another player. The description is "develop your skills against another...". The next screen seems to setup a server and requires 2 players. Is that correct or is there a way for solo play?
