    Fiducial placement

My cobra clubs have a shorter groove at base of club- should that be counted as 1st line when counting lines for fiducial?

Though I can not say with 100% certainty... I would say with 95% confidence that you should count the first shorter groove.

count the first. The bottom and top sticker are not as critical as the middle ones.

Yes, just put the dots in the low and high toe corners there. It will actually be better as the fiducials wear out quickest when they overlap with grooves. You might be able to stick ones on there where they don't go over a groove, in which case they should be good for a long time.
