    Using Netplay - No Results

I am just getting started with FSX20, and really looking forward to playing online. When I choose this option there is nothing that populates the tables. Has anyone run into this and worked through it? Any guidance that you may have would be great!

Thanks in advance for your help -

I am experiencing the same issue. I can't host a game or join anyone else's, because I can't get my own name to come up on the table. It seems like I am just not getting through to the server, even though I do get past the error message. Foresight Europe have not been able to help. It's frustrating indeed because this would be a fun feature if it worked.

Yes, there are some of us that can get it to work but it is spotty. Honestly not worth the effort.

Appreciate that all - I submitted a ticket to see what we could do. I am not sure it is worth it either, but would like the software to function as we expect. I will reply back here with anything of note that I get out of this.

The thing is that the software does function properly. Something in your computer blocks the connection and they don't know what. It connects to an overseas server, so it's complicated. You could try disabling your firewall, then your AV, then uninstalling your av, Also make sure everything is the FS Program folders has an AV exception, then resetting your network... If all else fails, backup and reinstall your whole hard drive and it might work. but again, it's your computer, not the software. The way it's setup isn't great though, and that's why you have these problems.

I appreciate that Baller, and understand that the network appears to be the primary cause here. That said I would expect some guidance on what ports to open, base configuration of AV (in my case Windows Defender), or general guidance on where i need to get to in order to see this functionality work (e.g. is there an IP that I can ping just to test that I can get to it and thereby confirming its network or software related). I have read a number of posts that this is not the easiest setup to get right, but I expect there to be some basic guidance from the Foresight team to enable its users to leverage this functionality. I am relatively new to FSX 20, but have had good experience with their support recently so I am hopeful. That said, if you have any documentation / guidance that I may be able to leverage in my search it would be very welcome. Thanks again for the reply -

I would try all the things I mentioned above. I'd be surprised is support is much help on this one. They were not when I tried a couple years ago before I was able to get it to work myself.

Interesting... So, if you go into the fsxsettings file, the connection address has always been data.redchain.co.uk, which support told me you could also change to 54.159.177.114. BTW, you can't ping those, it uses udp, so pinging won't work. Mmlincoln did a bunch of stuff with this and for him, resetting his network settings fixed it.

Anyway, I just went into my settings file to see what shows there now with all the updates and it now shows:

          <netServerAddress2>netplay.foresightsports.com</netServerAddress2>

Scratch anything I've said. No longer working for me either and just my guess, but I'd bet they scratched it in anticipation of the new software coming eventually. The server was hosted in the UK by the original writers of the software and if they are leaving them...

Just my guess. I tried both servers.

Have tried this with several friends. With one it works flawlessly, we can play matches, closest to pin or whatever no issues. With another friend it connects us but always puts him on the wrong hole. Finally after having it work for one time with another guys, we have never been able to do it again. Its frustrating and shouldn't be that complicated honestly. Regardless the online competitions are really fun. Try those. And they should offer more than 3 competitions at a time in my opinion.
