    Hi guys

im trying to update to the latest firmware for my gc2

but it is coming up with this message when I click on start install

    Two likely causes

    1. Mini connector in GC2 is bent or the cable is bad

    2. USB port on your computer is not enabled and/or broken.

To check 2 plug something else which runs on a USB into that port and see if that device works. If not check to see the port is enabled in device manager.

If it works go to 1 and correct with either a new cable or a fix to the mini USB connector in the GC2.

Be aware the connection to the GC2 is kind of picky so be sure the male end of the cable is fully inserted into the female connector in the GC2.

Also, make sure you installed the GC2 driver. It is available for download on the Foresight support page

I have cables that work and cables that don't so the cable matters.

          Fixed it guys.

basically I downloaded the new driver for the gc2 instead of the original one.

downloaed the original gc2 driver and then the new firmware worked

could this also be a reason all of a sudden games and range sessions just started to freeze? I had no issues until yesterday, today, it froze on the range yesterday and again during a game on FSX this afternoon.

His problem was having the wrong driver. Your problem is different since it was working previously and then stopped. In your case you can try reloading the firmware and/or the sim programs.

What sometimes happens is an EEPROM which holds the firmware in the GC2 or the sim software in your computer has a marginal cell or two. If you reload the cells are recharged and return to their former operational state and can be read out reliably. If your problem is indeed a leaky cell or two you may have to periodically reload the firmware and/or sim software. This has happened to me a couple of times over the last 6 or 7 years and was fixed by a reload.

I'm not sure my problem is the same but it sounds similar. How do I go about reloading the firmware and/or sim programs? I am IT illiterate. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

You have to go to the foresight website and download the original driver, then download the latest software and connect your usb cable to the computer and gc2
