Flooring/hitting mat/screen aspect ratio

Turning basically an empty concrete room into a sim, planning on buying the GCHawk. What type of flooring and hitting mat is recommended?

also a little lost on the ratio for the screen as I’ve seen 16:10 and 16:9. Is either one acceptable? I realize the difference is fairly minimal

16:9 will give you many more options when it comes to buying a projector. But really if you make the screen dimensions 16:10 and just run a 16:9 image it's fine. You can always use a little zoom or a custom resolution to fill the screen if that's important. But the selection of 16:10 projectors is a bit more limited than 16:9.
