Thanks for any help in advance. I’m looking at buying a used gc2 that has a serial number in the 3000s. From researching in this forum it seems to be a relatively old unit but looks to be in great working order. My question is, should i expect to see multiple hardware malfunctions/break downs or is it safe to buy an older unit at a discounted price?

Like any product i understand there will be maintenance with the product life cycle, but maybe a better way of asking would be, could you expect the accuracy of a 10 year old, 5 year old, and 1 year old GC2 to be consistent and within a reasonable range, or is there accuracy decay?

I have one with a 2k serial number. It works just fine. The only thing that craps out is the flash unit. If the unit has been banged around it may have misaligned cameras but so might a new unit. subjected to the same abuse. The only other thing you might have to fix is the flash tube driver and pre-driver if you start using the newer flash module. Andy, a forum member, can supply you with an upgraded flash module and replace the associated drivers for cheap compared to Foresight.
The long and short of it is the internal electronics don't really wear out especially since normally the use of a launch monitor is rather limited in total time. As with most electronics, at least the semiconductor parts, after you get rid of the failures caused by so called infant mortality, you are usually good to go for over 100k hours of operation.Comment

I got a GC2/HMT with serial number of 106** about 18 months ago and had to replace the driver board ribbon cable and battery. It was from a PGA teaching pro so it had been used and abused. Luckily there are videos made by Foresight that shows how to replace several things on Vimeo.Comment
