  • GC3 and TGC

Any word on if we will be able to use GC3 and the golf club?

  • #2
Not until someone jailbreaks it somehow like the Quad or the GC2. My rep said it would probably happen pretty quickly.

So are you going to move forward with one with this in question?
I agree I’m sure it will happen fast just not sure I want to gamble…

I wonder if the same quad work around works with the GC3 since they will both be based on FSX.

since GC3 does not work with current version of FSX then something is different, just not sure what that is

How do you figure? It comes with FSX 2020 in the software bundle - it'd be a touch weird if it didn't actually run on the GC3.

Oh I didn’t realize it didn’t work with the current fsx

So the Quad and GC3 use different versions of FSX2020? Sounds like they are trying to lock down the TGC2019 exploit the Quad has which allows connection.

Say if they removed the Quad driver, that would probably limit at least the current workarounds from working.

Subscribed to this thread. Patiently waiting and hoping someone figures this out soon. Fortunately kept my GC2 but it’ll be nice to just have one launch monitor for TGC and GSX.

Anyone know who made the quad work around? Maybe we can get them working on the GC3 work around

Okay just throwing this out there, I’d certainly be willing to chip in on paying someone for their time and effort to figure out the gc3/TGC quandary.

I’m in on that as well

Just a warning on Foresight with TGC. I was running a GC Quad feeding TGC 2019 and found the lateral dispersion in TGC for the driver was half that from FSX 2020. You may like that, but as I was reminded, TGC is just a video game, so it "plays more fun" when it makes you look better. If golf accuracy is important, the overpriced Foresight courses may be the way to go.

I’m pretty sure TGC reports offline carry distance, but FSX reports offline including roll. It would be easy enough to test if you can hit a low hook that lands to the right of the target but rolls to the left.

I haven’t seen this and ran both at the same time. I’d like to see someone’s shot data to see why. It’s possible you have something set giving you forgiveness.

Looks like I will have to post the data and figures. I also ran TGC 2019 and GC Quad both at the same time - Carry is the same; Total Distance depends on TGC Terrain and roll model; but OffLine Dispersion is very different. Even if there is a difference with TGC 2019 reporting OffLine Carry and FSX 2020 OffLine Total, the roll is only about 10-15% of the total so is unlikely to nearly double between the two methods. The easiest comparison is OffLine Angle, which is approximately = OffLine Distance / Carry or Total Distance where OffLine is measured / 0.0175 (to convert from % to degrees). Driver (245-ish) OffLine Dispersion from TGC is 55% of that from GC Quad; 5-iron (190-ish) is about 60+%) and Wedge 5-70 yards is 75%. Give me a day or two to condense my notes into my word limit....I'd love for there to be a forgivemess setting that would fix this.

I feel it's harder to hit it close on TGC2019 because the ball draws or cuts more. Fsx2020 is a touch easier and the competitor flies the straightest

                  • #14
Apparently TGC doesn't just use the data, club speed, ball speed, carry, etc., from the GCQuad? It must apply it's own math (for the reported parameters) to the numbers that GCQuad reads because I'm seeing some pretty big discrepancies reported on the shot screen on TCG after a shot compared to the data/results on the GCQuad.

I uploaded a description of data supporting my conclusion that TGC 2019 greatly undercomputes lateral dispersion at the link above. Some of the same people are participating in both threads.

Any updates on TGC integration with the GC3/Launch Pro or any other sim options besides FSX?
