    GC2 + HMT Impact Location

I've always been suspicious of the way the HMT reads/shows impact location on my irons. I'm not the greatest ball striker in the world (understatement of the year ), but everything, and I mean everything, is low on the face. Even shots that feel flushed, with the yardage results to match, show only slightly above the leading edge. Now that the season is over and I'm starting to do more indoor practice again, I finally decided to check the accuracy. I used a dry erase marker on the ball as well as some impact tape. Multiple shots show impact much higher than FSX 2020 reports. I'm using Foresight's instructions for sticker placement. Anyone else have/see this and perhaps have a solution or workaround?

    Thanks,

    Steve

If you place your stickers differently you can get the impact location to register differently. When you get into higher lofted clubs though it's probaby best to mark it like the instructions suggest. Based on how the camera sees the dots and more separation is needed in the higher lofted clubs. If you watch the foresight video on placement it will explain it.

Wiz - do you have a link you could share. I've searched and can't seem to find the video you reference. Thanks!

I have no link but it explained it in
foresight Peak fiducial placement class at the 3 minute mark I think. Maybe it was the 2 minute mark. I can't remember but it's at about one of those time stamps.

I had no idea that even existed. Thanks!

Wizard of Coz Thanks for sending me down that Rabbit Hole! The Peak Level 1 stuff is really good. Wish I had stumbled on it before. Good thing I've got some time on my hands this week.

I did move my fiducials placement around on the mid irons to better represent impact location without a hitch. My buddy eskimo didn't like me doing that though. 😕 😆 🤣

I am at a minimum 1 groove lower with the middle fiducials on all my irons and I'm playing modern blades. I have to assume game improvement irons will be up to 2 grooves lower. The placement recommendations are just a starting point, each iron model is different and its really on the user to figure out and adjust. I always felt like the HMT was accurate, you just have to know how to read the inconsistencies of your swing impact the readings.

I put my middle stickers at where I want to impact on the face. That way the data is all relative to sweet spot and actually helpful. Depends on the irons as to how many grooves high on the face, but well below the middle of the iron. I used a picture of Tiger's worn club to figure out where I wanted to hit the club face.
