    GCQuad ForeSight Sim Newbie

I bought the ForeSight SIM in a box Eagle package form CostCo over Thanksgiving… very happy with it so far. Couple of questions thx-Pugh for you experts:
    1. Seems like I need to log into my FSX account every time when I start up the computer, is there a way to stay logged in?
    2. I also need to select and connect the GCQ every time on startup, even though it states it should recognize it automatically… what am I doing wrong?
    3. When playing a game, I need to select what ball I use on start up, is there a way to save my Premium Ball setting?
    4. My FSX2020 Version is 7.7.1, I see there is a newer version. I downloaded this version from the website and the file is in my Download folder. When I click on it, Windows asks to identify an application to open the file with…. What do I use for this?
    5. Last one, is it possible to hook the computer up to a TV or monitor and have all the club and ball data shown on there, versus on the large SIM impact screen?
    Appreciate any and all help!

    Happy Holidays!

I'll give it my best shot since im first here...

    1) I assume you mean your FSX personal account for game play... I've had inconsistency with this over the years but its been a year since ive actually done gameplay via FSX. For just driving range use, I do not have to log in. Not much here, I know. sorry
    2) I do have to do this as well, looking forward to more feedback
3)There is no default setting for ball type and it is merely for person reference and does not impact the data so i just ignore it
    4)Sorry Cant help here
5)YES, this is easily doable. I hooked my projector up via the HDMI. I hooked to a second tv via usb. Then in the windows desktop settings for display there is a setting for multiple displays. Also in the FSX settings there is a page multiple displays, enable that and from there it was pretty intuitive for me. It took a little bit of work for me to get used to navigating the windows options but it was really a matter of going through and trying different set-ups. I display my club and ball data results on the TV by my laptop hooked via USB and the golf corse/driving range is all I display on the projector.

    Hope this helps some

    Merry Christmas

No clue on #1, I rarely am online with the account, just playing/practicing in the facility without being online.

#2: See photo #1, the next time you connect to the GCQ, select the button labeled Auto Connect to this device. It's worked for me, but I'm also connected via USB, wifi might be different.

#4 Is the file you are downloading the EXE file, or something else. See pic #2, should say "EXE" for the download. If you are downloading the EXE file and windows won't automatically run it when you double click on it, there are deeper issues on your system, Windows shouldn't be prompting you about which program to use. Try opening the folder where the program is downloaded to, "RIGHT" clicking on the file and choose "Run as Administrator", maybe that will help. If that doesn't work you should contact the PC manufacturer or Microsoft and get some help, that's a weird behavior.

#5 Per Taco, multiple windows are doable, but it will take a bit of time to get the the screens set up the way you want them. You'll need to make sure the "Enabke Dual Display" button is checked, see bottom arrow on pic#3. The top arrow pointing to "Window or Fullscreen", I've found it better to run in a "window" rather than full screen as it allows you to move the screens around and still get to your taskbar on the PC, sometimes in Fullscreen mode it's hard to do that.

Having said that, I'm using an iPad to display club data and then using my PC dsipaly & Projection Screen to show the course or driving range. I never was able to get things set the way I wanted with 3 monitors, seems like the program kind of decides where it wants to display stuff and you don't get many options to change that, so I use the iPad connected via GCQ wifi to display club data, GCQ connected via USB to PC to display the shots.

              1) If you're logged in, it saves your shot data. you might never use it but nice that it's there when you do. For this to work, you need to log in twice!

First, do it the way you usually do. Then, go back in tp "Players", click on your logged in name, click the button at the bottom of the user window that says to keep you logged in, and then fill password and click Update. It will log you out maybe every few months from updates but otherwise stays logged in.

              2) Turn on your Quad FIRST. It must be connected to the computer when FSX starts or it will not connect on its own. I use Ethernet, and its pretty quick. Wifi might take a little longer. I'd expect USB to be the quickest. I find that once my Quad has gone through the normal startup is plenty of time.

Looks like others answered the other questions...

My two cents. I got tired of the issue you listed (#1) where you get logged out regularly. I downloaded an application called voiceattack and through a voice activated macro, I'm able to re-login. I use this for other things like launching FSX, going direct to driving range mode, getting going with TGC2019, etc. It's quite versatile if you're willing to put in the effort and setup the macros.

p.s. - VoiceAttack is free for up to a number of commands. It's only $10 for the full version so I just bought the full version.
