  • GC3 vs Launch Pro

    Hey All,

I get that they are the same unit and same 5 year cost. I decided on GC3 for 2 reasons. 1) I feel like resale will be higher down the road.
    2) subscriptions are the worst, and didn’t think I’d buy courses if I was paying $800 a year for gold

Here’s my question: instead of going GC3 if I go Bushnell and fully unlock it, then If something happened to the unit: broken, lost, stolen etc… would I only have to replace the $3000 unit??? Since I would still have the software unlocked in my name…

bonus question: Are ppl buying bushnell in the hopes someone unlocks TCG and they stop paying for gold subscription?

I think the primary draw of BLP is the capability/desire to invest 3k plus sub fees and incremental upgrades (subs up to full unlock) versus needing 7k up front with GC3.

I agree with you on subscriptions, plus the colouring/badging on GC3 is nicer.

I decided to go the Launch Pro route plus the $4k software unlock, since you get the same thing as the GC3, but save a bit of money - free shipping from Bushnell on the Launch Pro, and no sales tax on the separate software license (also it looks like Bushnell may have a slightly more liberal return policy than Foresight).

In comparison, Foresight charges $95 shipping on the GC3 and sales tax is imposed on the full bundled price here in California, at least when ordering from Foresight’s website. You might save a little if you reach out to Foresight and have them issue an invoice with a breakout between the hardware and software (with sales tax only being charged for the hardware for California residents), but still not as good as the Launch Pro route since Foresight listed the hardware at $4999 and the software license as $2k on the draft invoice I received from a Foresight sales rep.

Not sure about Alberta or the maritimes but most of the other provinces in Canada seem to have sales tax of some kind (whether HST, GST, PST) on all digital services, including software downloads and streaming services, so they're more or less identical up here - assuming you can even get one.

Good input. Any thoughts on replacement? Is it only $3k if you own the license on the LP

Not sure about the replacement scenario, but my understanding is that the software license is tied to a particular hardware unit, and so if you had to replace your hardware unit, you would need to get Foresight to transfer the license to the other unit. I believe Foresight charges a license transfer fee if you sell your unit and want to transfer your software license to the buyer. I would assume they would charge a license transfer fee to assign the license to another unit as well, but perhaps they would make an exception if you were to send in the broken unit if you had to purchase a replacement out of warranty. Maybe reach out to Bushnell via the online chat feature on the Launch Pro product page? They were pretty helpful with some of my questions.

This post from the WRX forums doesn't directly address your replacement question, but might provide some helpful info regarding transfer fees generally for the Launch Pro https://forums.golfwrx.com/topic/182...mment-23963699
