Does FSX 2020 NETPLAY work for anyone?

I've been trying to get Foresight Sports Netplay working with several different users over the past 6 months, with no result... I've contacted Foresight Sports who keep saying that it works for them and that they do see it as unreliable but they're "working on it". That was 3 months ago. I've checked back in this week for an update.

The more I Google and search these forums, the more I see users having a similar experience.

So my question is - Does anyone who has FSX 2020 use Netplay reliably with other users to play 18 holes?

Note; Yes, I have followed their help article re IP mapping and their support team also couldn't get it working for me.

Yes, it does work, you will not get support for it because there is no way for them to support you. There is a problem with the connection between you and the server if it doesn't work and it's your computer or firewall.

In order to know if you are the problem or someone else is, when you get in, if you SEE YOUR NAME in the left pane and can write a message and it shows, then you are actually in and not just "fake" in.

That being said, it's clearly not set up well, the process was written by software engineers in another country and who are no longer contracted for FS, and I would expect it to be re-done completely in Play (I hope) because even if you do get a game set set and use it, it doesn't work very well.

Thanks for the intel, Baller. Much appreciated. Interesting that out of the tens of thousands of FS users, no one is every in the server haha...

Yeah, the FS Support team have looked into both our computers and still can't figure it out. While testing from their end they even said that they weren't able to get it working due to poor internet connectivity within their office space!? Very annoying as that's one of the main features we purchased FS for! :-(

I guess we need foresight to get bought by Microsoft if we ever want to play online matches.

It is frustrating. I can get it to work with one other guy but not anyone else. It's fun when it works tho. This should be a top priority of FSX Play as well as building upon the competitions and leagues. The competitions are probably my favorite part of FSX yet they only do a few, on courses you may or may not have and for far too long, month at at time. Double the courses and cut the length to 2 weeks.

I agree that it should be different and could be so much better. At one point, I think it was with ‘18, the closest to the pin challenges were ongoing on every single course. The leaderboard always stayed there and the cool thing about that is that you could see where YOU were and always try to beat your own best and move your way up.

I hope they do something like that again.

Given the hot & cold inputs from the crowd I never really entered into any of the competitions. Hopefully it will improve in Play - sounds like fun.

The competition are really fun. You post a score. No mulligans. 6’ gimmies sometimes from back tees. You can try as many times as you like. It’s great pressure practice. You start to get a score going and you see if you can finish or crumble. I love it.
