FSX Play - Bug Tracking Thread

Hi All,,

Please use this thread to track all known bugs and issues. Please try to give as much detail as possible.

First few I’ve noticed:

Paris Range

- Ball flight not reflecting LM numbers. Eg LM says 175 carry. FSX play shows ball landing circa 165, rolling out to 174. Figures on FSX play screen say 175 carry, 174 total (i.e. so ball should be spinning back, but its clearly rolling out 10 yards or so)

- Descent angles in the analysis table are totally wrong on screen. Regularly getting 0 degrees, or 358.5 degrees.


On course

- Number of short chips stopping dead on first bounce, where first bounce is short of green, on fringe or even on the green

Not necessarily a bug but several times after 3 or 4 holes, FSX Play will just shut down. When I open the program again, it will ask if I would like to restore my last session. When I say yes it tries loading but never successful. At that point I close the program and have to open up FXS Play again. Is anyone experience FXS Play just shutting down?

I use to have the same issue 2 years ago when i first installed FSX. Foresight didn't have any answers but the company i bought my computer off told to to do the following and its worked a treat since...

Restart your system and keep pressing F2 until you get to BIOS, you may need to then press F7 to get into Advanced Mode.
- Go to 'Tool' then 'ASUS Overclocking Profile' or 'ASUS User Profiles'. With the arrows on the keyboard highlight load from profile, type 1 and press enter then confirm.
- Then go to 'Exit' then 'Save changes and reset'. This will restart your system with the overclock disabled.

I mean it could be an unstable overclock. It's pretty rare though or more likely the overclock is very temperature sensitive and the thermal paste is breaking down after +5 years of use. Motherboard manufacturers usually jack up the core voltages super high to prevent crashing since not all CPUs are created equal.

Going into the BIOS of any PC is not recommended for the average user. Unless you know what you are doing there is a lot to take in and a lot that can go wrong.

MrP's recommendation is accurate to remove the overclock but this only applies to ASUS motherboards. If you are using another manufacturer's motherboard ie Intel, Gigabyte, MSI, EVGA, Dell, ASRock please visit their website and review their support information before tinkering around in the BIOS.

Pretty sure this is a bug. It was happening to me on my old computer which had an older graphics card GTX1080 I think. It just started randomly crashing when I was using the range or courses. This happened with FSX Play and FSX 2020I reinstalled FSX and it seemed stable again for a week, but then I just bought a new higher spec PC with an RTX4080, so totally clean install with the latest software, and although it’s only done it once, it randomly crashed on me this week. It’s been better, but the software does seem a bit unreliable. I’m keeping an eye on mine now and will try to get some diagnostics software to see what’s happening.

Not being able to connect to Quad via Ethernet
Room Tool config issues of not storing setup
Getting a rebound like a tree trunk off of a leaf

Not sure Stimp works, seems to be 10 for everything.
Nearest hole comp, selected tee is ignored.
GC2 find ball doesn’t work.
back spin is reading side spin data.

-Grid on green pops up on its own and random times (we’ve been trying to putt without using the grid but after one person putts often times the grid comes on mid putt and stays on til clicked off; repeats for next putt)

-Spin numbers not correct. getting 400 spin on drivers/1500 on wedges
-gc2 wont connect to Bluetooth
-Grid disappears randomly (sometimes while looking at the green)
-camera has pivoted on its own almost 45deg. both times it came back on it's own as well
-tree/leaf hits sound like an old NES game that is dusty
-why no zoom button
-no tee distances on the tee select screen. have to change pages and come back
-GC2 ball find not popping up
-Analyze does not show raw data
-crashes/courses not loading
-why does space bar hit the ball for you?
-turn order does not always make sense. I win the hole and my friend still goes first next hole
-remove or hide foresight logo on top

bigger list but I have really enjoyed what I have played so far in comparison to TGC that I am used to playing at home. Kind of wish I still had a foresight launch monitor

Would like to see ability to lock in your altitude. I know some courses are at sea level but I want to play my yardages for practice sake.

I did see this option - there were 3 - Sea Level, Current (i.e. when I am) altitude and course altitude options one could select. It was only available (I think) during the initial start up options maybe. Also not sure if this is only a quad thing (knowing it measures barometric pressure) or not. Will go take a look later on.

You have “basic” and “advance” setting before you launch round. You can adjust several things under advance. I just wish there was a way to save your personal default settings.

I’m with you default saved setting like FSX2020 is a must.

I think I agree that the whole system (i.e. it is more than just the GPU) has an effect. You can have a great GPU but there are several other places budget systems or OEM builders sometime scrimp to save $ which can affect the performance. That 3060Ti is a great card! Jealous.

• I second the putting speed. I do not feel we are seeing a 10 Stimp - feels more like a 6 or so
• Putting with the ball 1/5th of the way up the screen needs to change - would like to see option for 2020 like implementation,
• Chipping distances inside 40 feet seem off. My wedges are a strength of my game and I am not seeing the correct distance or roll-out with wedges around the green (could be partially related to 1st point)
• Only one crash so far - on Pitch n Putt interestingly after the fist hole. While I was given the option to resume game, game would not resume - had to restart
• Want to see multi screen functionality restored.
• Want to see option to move data tiles back to left hand side out of the way (I am wondering if the position of the data tiles is the reason or rationale for moving the putting start position up the screen......)
• None of the keyboard short cuts seems to work
• Need to restore club data visual (Picture) screens - this is a strength of the quad - why hobble it?
• Re-Integrate camera recording functions (or tell us what the future will be - Swing Catalyst integration only?) The loss of the capability is another "downgrade"
• Water features seem frozen (i.e. it is a picture of the water feature and there is no water movement....at least in Pitch n Putt an La Jolla)
• No material visual difference between Max Performance and Max Graphics settings that I can tell

Not a fix, but I do note that I have not had any issues with the room config whatsoever. That said, I am a center hitting set-up so maybe that is why.

Yeah, You're lucky you're a center hit setup and so yes, the room config issue would not affect you.

Also:

• Cannot save game mid round.
• All settings reset to default between games even within same session. Does not hold preferences between games.
• Pinned icons reset to default between games.
• No visible sand "splash" when hitting from bunker

I’ll add mine in after a couple of rounds - although most seem to have been covered already.
Do I need to send them to Foresight too?

1. GC2 does not connect by Bluetooth. FSX2020 did, and having a cable trailing across the floor in a semi dark room is just an annoyance.

2. GC2 ‘find the ball’ shows me putting the ball outside the hitting area when I’m putting it in the correct area. It then disappears like it’s in the right area.

3. I set my tiles up at the bottom how I like them. I play a round. When I play a second round, they’ve restored to the default settings.

4. I set my club distances. If I set 160 for a 7 iron, if the distance to the pin is 159, it’d pick an 8 iron - even though my 8 is set for 145.

5. The distance on the flyover is completely wrong. For a start I thought it was because I was playing shorter tees. Even if I’m playing the white tees, I’ve seen instances where the whites are 20 yards further than the advertised distance.

6. Auto putt just gives +1 no matter where you land on the green. No way I’m getting a 30ft putt in in 1 every time!

7. Some sounds are missing - I used to like the ‘thump’ confirmation that the ball had landed on the green, or the ‘rustling’ noise so I knew I was in the rough.

8. La Jolla - please remove the stands. They have no rendering and make the course look like an FSX2020 course.

9. Data - I had a club speed of 1.677722E+07 with my wedge - which went 85 yards with a ball speed of 70.7mph.


That’s it after a couple of rounds. Something else I’m missing is the ability to mix and match holes from various courses - like making a par3 course out of a load of others. I also have about 40 courses… but only have the free ones in FSX Play - so looking forward to more ‘original’ ones being converted.

It looks much better, and actually plays nice and smooth with my GTX1070 at 1080p. The interface is nice, and the whole thing looks more modern and clean.
If I’d bought finished software rather than playing to be a beta tester then I’d be really happy with it!!

Lie penalties aren’t working. They only work in bunkers all the other types of rough not working.

Lie penalties are just about worthless. They have close to no effect on both bunkers or rough. Doesn’t matter it you switch heavy rough on it still doesn’t change it. Also, I would say that when you hit a drive into the rough it grabs your ball as if its 3-4 inches deep but then has zero lie penalty hitting out of it. The ball flying into the rough should stop with the same consistency/penalty as when you're hitting out of it. Before you fix all that please fix the putting through rough. If you putt through the fringe it’s like 90% penalty but zero if you chip. Putting through the fringe is impossible. It should only be like 5%-10% penalty max.

I don’t see any other complaints about this so wonder if it’s just me. No matter how much i adjust the color sliders the picture contrast, brightness and saturation the color never comes close to natural. It’s super dark the titles screen is so dark i can barely see the course tiles. No matter which course i choose the only way to get closer to natural it to have brightness on full and saturation and contrast all the way to the left.

I had this problem. You need to go into your computer monitor and turn off the HDR setting
