  • Course Bundle Purchase (20 courses) - Guidance

I'm looking to buy a stock of the FSX standard courses (FSX2020 usage, not FSX play). Here's the list I've created (in no particular order)

    1: Innisbrook Resort Island Course
    2: Aronimink Golf Club
    3: Schaumburg National
    4: Congressional Country Club
    5: Oakmont Country Club
    6: The Olympic Club
    7: Akron Golf Club
    8: Colonial Country Club
    9: Doral Blue Monster
    10: Quail Hollow Club
11: Cog Hill Golf and Country Club
    12: Carnoustie Golf Links
    13: Merion Golf Club
    14: Abu Dhabi Golf Club
    15: Coeur d'Alene
    16: Egypt Valley
    17: Yishan Golf Club
    18: Wentworth West Golf Course
    19: Real Club Valderrama
    20: Emirates Golf Club-Majlis

Before anyone suggests, yes, I have TGC2019 and I'm not a fan frankly. The game-ification is a bit too much for me personally and I was missing the realism from FSX2020.

Any suggestions of what should be swapped in favor of another course? I prefer courses that are ~7000+ yards from the tips.

I already have the free courses from FSX2020 and the following:
    1. Minot
    2. Meadows
    3. Maryland
    4. Glen Abby
    5. Essex
    6. Cobble Beach

Someone has bought every FSX course and posted a review of each on a website that escapes my mind at the moment.

someone will post a link, but I would start there.

MDMSG is an invaluable resource for course information, (https://www.mdmsg.com/). The member here that created and maintains that site has done a ton to help all of us with course purchase selections. Go there to help make decisions. That being said, I also have about half the courses from your list. From that, I would strongly recommend Couer d'Alene and Valderrama and Colonial and Doral just behind those. Egypt Valley is wonderful, but really difficult, similar with Carnoustie. Merion is also a nice course, but on the easier side.

I agree with your list. My ranking is almost the same. Carnoustie will be more fun in Play when you can adjust the rough length but it’s brutal on FSX2020. Some of these course with a lot of elevation change are going to move up the list when ported to PLAY because you can actually see the hills

Thanks both. I'll check out the website! I had been youtubing the course fly-overs but hadn't realized it was the mdmsg website.

You have a good list there, lots of nice courses. I have about half of them. The ones on your list that I play most are Coeur d'Alene and Merion, both excellent. Aronimink I find very boring, back and forth straight holes - I personally would not buy that one again.

One suggestion might be to sub in a couple of links courses for some more variation. You only have Carnoustie, which is good but extremely difficult due to having extensive Severe Lie Penalty. Other links courses that I play more are Royal Birkdale, Kingsbarns, and Castle Stuart.

I also think Pebble Beach is worth the money. It is the flagship product on FSX in my view.

        Enjoy!

Thanks for the suggestions. I see what you mean about Aronimink. I looked on the course flyover over at MDMSG and it does seem simple (very municipal like). Good thoughts on the subbing with links courses. You're right that I don't have many at all of them in the list.

I have a very similar list. One course I really enjoy and highly recommend is Pitch 'n Putt. It is a quick round and has really helped me dial in the 1/2 & 3/4 swings.

I hadn't thought about the fun factor of a pitch-n-putt course. Perhaps this is one to consider for me as the kids grow up since the holes will be within their club distances.

Yeah, ditto on the pitch n putt course...great course that I try to use as a closing of my practice the day before I play. Great fine-tuning of those clubs.

As far as a tip of how to buy those, make sure to reach out to your rep to get a deal and I wouldn't buy unless you get a good deal.

I think you have a good list. I think in the lower part you meant to write Pebble Beach and I love it as well as Spyglass. I'm near them and play them so that might make them worth more to me. Maryland is really nice, so I'd recommend swapping that with your above list as well. Actually, MMLINCOLN (mdsmg is his site and he owns most courses) I think said it's one of his favorites, which is why I got it.

Thanks for the callout on a good deal. I'm able to get the 20 courses for $1500 (regular price of $3200) though I'm not using a rep so not sure if I'll be able to find a better deal.

On the Pebble, it's actually Cobble Beach =\ I'll probably add the premium courses later this year after I sell TGC2019.

I think I have Maryland already unless it's a different course. I'll definitely verify before I pull the trigger.

Definitely adding the pitch-n-putt with the regular positive feedback on this!

          Thanks again!

Spend the money and buy the monetary peninsula pack. I play those 3 course the most and i would imagine those course will be ported to Play earlier then others. Can’t believe those weren’t the first.
