Any tips for reading putts? I find the ball drop terrible for telling subtle breaks. Is there a way to turn on another green map like TGC2019 or other sims use?

I don't think you'll find much help there, not a strong point of any sim program. You are correct, the ball drop is mostly useless. It can sometimes show very little movement and yet when you get on the green the "rolling balls" show something different, sometimes quite a bit. When we play, we set the putting to manual, and we have a 24' putting strip on one side of the room. If you land on the green within 24' you get to putt on the strip until holed, if you are > 24' but < 50' it's an automatic 2 putt, > 50' is a 3 putt, then a 2' put,, etc. The length perception and break is so hard to read on the sims, if you try to make it like reality I think you'll just end up frustrated. Set your gimme's at 6' and work on your swing, not your putting, you'll feel better about your self when you're done!

Ball drop depends on the course but yes, on a lot of them, it's totally useless.
As far as tips how to read, first off, you have to have the Green Grid enabled. When enabled properly, it shows grid lines as well as little balls that move along those lines. The faster they move, the greater the slope. If the grid shows and the balls do not, lmk and I'll give some tipes because it can be fussy.
My best tip for actually putting on 2020 though, is don't change the program aim, just aim yourself.

+1 on this comment - This is what I do also and find it works the best.Originally posted by Baller View PostMy best tip for actually putting on 2020 though, is don't change the program aim, just aim yourself.

Yes, absolutely. Just look at the moving grid lines and aim at the screen as though it was a green. Don't mess around moving the aim point on the mini-map like you would with full shots. It is not great, and the cup is terribly unforgiving, but with some practice you can putt ok on 2020. 6-foot gimmes will save you a lot of frustration.
