Using the Alignment Stick Indoors

I have a custom GCQ simulator, built & installed by Foresight. The room config tool was setup by them, and the numbers look correct to my measurements. My problem is that the Quad thinks I'm swinging out to in and everything was going left of target. I used the alignment stick to aim at the center of the room and it fixed it, but when I called Foresight and mentioned this issue, they said "never use the alignment stick indoors" and suggested I'm just swinging OTT indoors for some reason. I'm no touring pro, so I figured that was it and worked on my path.

Yesterday, I went for an outdoor lesson and was told that I'm ridiculous under plane, like massively in-to-out. It sure seems like my indoor readings are off & I'm grooving a huge in-to-out move. Has anyone encountered this? I'd like some input before I call them & get told that the device is accurate & it must be me.

Their comment is strange to me and certainly the first time I have heard it. I use the alignment stick every time I move the quad just to make sure it is aligned correctly. I have never had any issues using the alignment stick indoors. Curious if there are other comments.

I use my stick every time i turn my unit on just in case the kids have bumped my quad. Not sure what that hell they are talking about.

I think their point would be it’s belt & suspenders with the room config tool. That makes sense in theory, but obviously my n=1 experience raises some questions.

Perhaps, but again the room config tool just says where the GCQ is placed relative to the environment. Not that it is perfectly aligned (i.e. aligned at a perfect parallel to the ball bath right down center ice ..... Anyway still a puzzling statement to me.

That would be weird. Most people would use the unit in simulator environment. Why would the alignment stick not work indoors?

It works indoors, but they told me it’s not intended to be used indoors because accounting for alignment is what the room config is for. I’ll call them & reply with where things land.

Whoever said not to use it indoors does not understand what the alignment stick actually does. It AIMS your quad. Doesn't matter where you are, your quad will never be perfectly square unless you use the alignment stick to make it square.

As an example, I have a truestrike mat, and there are grooves on each side of the hitting strip. I put the stick in there and then align my quad so that my quad is staraight and then if I happen to forget to align one day, it shouldn't be off by much unless someone bumped it.

I use my alignment stick each session. It’s meant to ensure the GCQ is Square to your line and this has nothing to do with the room simulator setup line. I find each day I get a slightly different reading despite the GCQ not being moved. Somewhat troubling but its not huge.

Is it possible that it's pointed too far left. I believe it should be parallel to your target line and with it aimed to a screen image and not a point 250 yards(or whatever) away it may be angled and not parallel.

Whoever told you not to use the stick indoors is talking complete nonsense. You need to use it every time you move the Quad. Make sure your room config is good, which you can tell by looking at the screen. Then put the stick down about where the ball usually is, and make sure it is pointing exactly at the aim point on the screen. This is imperative, there is no way the room config itself will eliminate the need to do this.

This. I should be parallel to the target line. Pointing at the center of the screen will not be target parallel if there is an offset in the configuration.

That's B as in B, S as in S. When you work with Foresight support, take notes about who you spoke with and date/time, that way when someone tells you something that seems ignorant you can ask for someone else to help you. (per jasonreg's post, that's a strange comment) The Room Alignment Tool helps with the image projected on the screen or shown on a monitor, it has nothing to do with the direction of the ball other than where it starts the flight path on the screen. Make sure the base of your GCQ is at the height as the hitting mat and relatively parallel to your target line, then use this stick to let the GCQ tweak the flight path.

I'm not saying the advice was good - however it was probably someone not making a ton of money just repeating what they were taught.

I can't seem to get my GC Quad to recognize the alignment stick. Anyone else run into this?
