I somehow missed this update. Here is what is says it fixes:

GCQuad Firmware v3.0.8.1:

• Improved WiFi Connection
• Updated Internal WiFi Chip Firmware
• Resolved Possible Error Codes Related To Connection

Just installed it. I use USB generally but wifi when I take the quad to the range. Will play around with it later on.

I've been using USB but only because it's the only thing that works with Play. I'm worried that I'll mess up the USB connection by kicking it, which I have, and it has gotten loose over the years. I prefer to use Ethernet and would definitely use Wifi if it were stable...but that's unlikely in my old Quad.

I played a round on FSX Play with USB and the new Firnware. Works as before. I saw now change there. Did not take the time to see if wifi was stable or not but will later on.

I tried to connect via Wifi to Play and still didn't work for me. It worked very briefly when I first got Play but never got it to work again. The older quads have much older wifi though (and only 2.4Ghz), so not sure if that makes a difference.

How does one go about updating the hardware?

Instructions are on the site. Go to Foresight Sports, then Support, then Hardware, then GC Quad, and then look for Download the firmware version and execute the program. You must be connected via USB to upgrade the firmware. Takes less than 5 mins.
