New Courses for FSX 2020 or Play

Does anyone know how Foresight chooses the golf courses they develop for their software? Some are a bit strange. There are a few random private courses in the Philadelphia, PA area. I live in that area. I have played a few of them. They are nice, but hardly "iconic."
I would love to see them add Kapalua.

My guess is foresight outfitted these clubs with simulators and part of the quote included designing the course in FSX for their members to play. Seems like most of the courses are in the Midwest and private.

Saw they just added Blackberry Oaks, Gearheart and Real Club Valderrama as FSX Play versions. And they may have added it previously but I missed it when they added Kinsale so there are a few more FSX Play courses some of us own.

Looks like sulli182 is correct. I looked up Blackberry Oaks & Gearheart. Both have "virtual" golf facilities equipped with Foresight Sports equipment. They must choose many of their courses to replicate this way.

I logged a support ticket regarding Kinsale which I also have but could not download , there seemed to be a problem. Support got back to me acknowledging the ticket, not been able to get to my sim computer to confirm positive download , but the download appears to go further on my portable Macbook now than it did previously . I hope this is fixed now .

I’ve noticed some of the course are so laggy they are basically unplayable. I have a RXT3070 and still lags out. Torrey Pines is the worst.

Really? The recommended minimum is RTX2060. E6 (which has graphics on par with FSX Play) works fine. No "lagging." I have not seen anyone else complain about "lag."

Added The Links at Spanish Bay and Village Links of Glen Ellyn.

sinkingputts - I have not had any lag issues with La Jolla and I am on a RTX2080 Super unless I am running Swing Catalyst at the same time, then I need to dial the settings down to Max Performance. Otherwise I have been running on Max Graphics if I am just playing.

Do you do anything specifically to the setting to help out? I have a laptop and not a desktop if that makes any difference

sinkingputts - there are a few things you can check, specifically for a laptop. Recommend you review the various guides under "Additional Resources" on the FSX2020 support page (I get we are talking FSX Play but they translate across and the Play page has not been fully updated as yet). You can find the page here: FSX 2020 Support | Foresight Sports Scroll down past the course installations and User Guides to find "Additional Resources". Surprisingly, I found many of these did indeed improve performance and I recommend following them.

That said, yes there is a difference between desktop and laptop versions of graphics cards. It is one of the main reasons I always recommend when possible to use a desktop. You can compare the difference between here: UserBenchmark: Nvidia RTX 3070 vs (Laptop) or google to compare. Bottom line, the desktop version gives you about 36% better performance over the laptop version. Then the amount to RAM you have - and CPU will also play a part in decreasing order of effect. There is also a material difference in different versions of cards. Using the same tool you can see that my RTX2080 Super is still performing about 22% faster than the laptop version of the RTX3070 even though the 3070 is much newer: UserBenchmark: Nvidia RTX 2080S (Super) vs 3070 (Laptop)

        Hope this helps - Jason

I really hope they add St Andrew’s Old Course to Play at least a week or two before the Open Championship this year. Should be top priority.

I see special from Foresight for premium FSX Play courses until May. I would think if purchase a course it would be advantageous to purchase the FSX 2020 course then convert to FSX play. FSX 2020 at this point has more functions especially swing video capability.

I think it works both ways. Buy for one and get you get it for the other.

I also have had "laggy" problems with a few courses since new update. I have 3060 ti graphics card in dexk top so its not the graphics cards fault. Something changed..

                @Tkvaughn999

We have been doing some testing to confirm reports of lagging or slowness from a few customers. During our testing we had realized that the slowness we saw was due to multiple other items being open or the resources on the computer still being consumed from closed applications. Once we closed and restart the computer to release all resources we found that the performance was lightning fast again.

We believe that people with lag who are using a 30xx series card might need to review the other applications or processes that are limiting performance.

If you find that you need other applications running at the same time, I'd recommend going down to max performance in your FSX PLAY settings or at the very least making sure you do restart your computer and turn off any items taxing your system through your Windows Task Manager.

The Google Chrome browser, for example, sometimes throttles the computer until it is fully restarted.

If you do all of this and continue to have lag or slowness please contact our Technical Support Team and submit a formal ticket: www.foresightsports.com/contact-support

I will look more closely next time. I typically have no other programs running when I play but Ill double check.
