GC3 / BLP - Found the Perfect Carrying Case

    Hi all -

After wasting entirely too much time on Amazon looking at carrying cases for everything from mobile printers to DJ mixers, I finally stumbled onto what I hoped was the perfect carrying case for the GC3 - a telephoto camera lens case from Lowepro (Lowe Alpine). It arrived yesterday, and the fit is almost comically perfect, so I thought I'd try and save others the headache in case anyone else was struggling to find a case w/ Foresight not offering anything.

I never take the charger or alignment stick to the course, but I did manage to squeeze them in there as well (not in the photos tho).

50 bucks on Amazon, but at least for now, they have some # of them as "Used - Very Good" for 35. I got one of those, and it's in brand new condition.

Also has five stars w/ almost 900 ratings, presumably mostly from professional photographers whose lenses are a lot more fragile than the GC3 and who travel a lot further than the local golf course.

One small bonus is that now I can throw away the giant box, which I was keeping in case I needed to send the unit back for service. The Lowepro padding is beyond legit - I might feel even better shipping the unit in this case than the original packaging.

Does it have a shoulder strap to carry or a handle?

Yup, it technically comes with a shoulder strap but it's just a strap (check the photos on Amazon).

On the bright side, it's got handles all over it (main one on the top back, then side straps and cinch straps that all work as handles). It's also got this beefy, double-sided velcro thing on the back that allows you to hook it onto other bags. Here's photo since that explanation didn't make much sense:

Foresight wouldn’t sell you the backpack that comes with the GCQUAD?

An alternative is to ask Foresight to include the bag for free when buying the GC3, at least that’s what I did and was told “no problem” without hesitation.

Not revive the revived again, but I wasn't offered the option to get the bag when I made my purchase and I couldn't justify the cost of the GC3/GC4 carrying cases; sling bags like that shouldn't be so expensive either. The Lowerpro case above is for a Canon 300mm f2.8 L lens, which are pretty beefy pieces of glass.

Both of the cases below fit, but the Lowerpro LP36307 fits better; the GC3 faces backwards more easily in the LP bag. The JJC DLP-7 works too, but it is a bit more snug fitting. Both fit into carry on luggage as well if that is a concern. I tried some other sling bags as well, but I'm not looking for a should carry solution.
