Updating to latest FSX Play release.

Can someone detail the process for updating the software to the latest release?

Pretty much tells you step by step on the foresight website.

I just get an error message. Obviously others are having the same issues as 1 out of 35 says it working.

Download new version. Install.

Highmark - some common issues:

1. Make sure your Anti-Virus and what-not are paused or off - they will cause havoc with installation
2. Run Installation files as "Administrator" - generally right click choose option to run as admin
3. If you have tried and not been successful, remove all program files etc. and start fresh
4. If you are seeing a specific error - please post details so we can assist

You are right - it should not be that hard, but it can be a bit tricky.

Went pretty smooth and seemed to fix a few bugs I was having.
