  • Room Config Image Height

When entering the value for image height in the room config tool, should it be the measurement from floor to the top of your projected image? or the actual overall height of the image? The top of my projected image is 87 inches from the floor, but the bottom of the image is also like 8 inches from the floor. So the overall image height is more like 79 inches. I assume getting this right effects where the ball takes off from on the screen.

Also, does anyone know what to enter in the DY field? My mat is 2 inches thick. But my projected image starts like 8 inches from the floor like I said.

A little bit more clarification in the instructions from Foresight would be great.

Any reason you would not tilt your projector to have the picture start at the floor? In my experience it gives a better experience, but I am not sure if there are other factors in play. If you did this then it would resolve your question as well.

My enclosure is from Carl's place, so there is a black border around the whole screen. No matter how much I tilt the image, it is still about 4-5 inches off the floor minimum.

I have a Carl's enclosure. My image starts at the bottom of my screen. I used the 5" dimension to compensate for the border. It works great. Where the ball hits the screen is where the image of the ball starts (consistently).

When you say you used the 5” dimension, do you mean in the DY field? Thanks

I would call the bottom of the IMAGE the floor and also use that calculation for the level of your Quad.

So, if your image starts at 3" above your real floor, and your platform where your quad is 3", then I'd write 0" for the quad (DY measurement).

If the mat is only 2" and therefore lower than the bottom of your screen,. then I'd write -1 (and hope that works, but you might have to mess with it.

Always use your projected image size for best accuracy.

This is interesting. I guess this is because the bottom camera of the Quad is about 3" off the floor? Hmm? I put 5" in because of the border around my screen. That is exactly where my image starts. When I watch swings on replay, the ball starts on the screen exactly (or it appears to be) where it hits the screen.
