    FSX 2020 Netplay with others

For the first time in FSX 2020, this past weekend, I went into Netplay and created a server to play a round online with a few friends. I was hoping that during the round, we'd all have to take turns and see each other's shots, but that's not how it worked. Instead it seemed as though you could just play the round completely on your own, while checking in on their status via the scorecard, which just left the experience feeling a little lacking.

Did I miss a setting somewhere, or is this just how it works?

We did notice that if someone was close to you on the same hole, you might see their shot on the mini map, or maybe even their ball on the main screen, but that seemed to be the extent of shared play.

You know you can just take turns depending on who’s away. Pretty easy. I actually like that we can hit at the same time because you can get through rounds and a quick pace. When we play one guy will hit then just wait for the other guy. You should be able to see all the balls moving on the screen and on the minimap.

It wouldn't be so bad if the mini map didn't zoom to your ball and the pin. If it stayed zoomed out to show the entire hole, then at least you could see everyone, along with their shot progression.

As it is now, if I hit first, I'll only ever see my opponent's shot if it ends within the space that my mini maps shows.

Does netplay only allow for 1 person per machine? Or can you have 2 people in one location and two in another? I set up a server once (without another netplayer lined up to test), but it seemed like I could only play one person in my location. It just seems like it would be a blast to have foursomes do a netplay scramble against each other....maybe that's too big of an ask, though.

Ive only tired it with one person per sim. I could see how it would be way cooler to have multiple people in each bay. Fun to find a two man money game against others on the internet. Honestly I think they are absolutely missing the big picture here. Multiplayer video games were a niche until the ability to go to a server and jump in a game and take to the other players happened now its a 200 billion a year business. They should be trying as hard as they can to create a way for us to find a game online easily. I'm down to get some matches in.

I have never been able to get Netplay to function adequately. Very sad that it is so poor. And that it doesn't seem to be even a feature in FSX Play. This is the number 1 biggest shortcoming of Foresight software for me.
