  • FSX Play - more courses

Tbh I’d prefer if they concentrated on improving the software, but looks like a few more courses have been released, including Couer D’Alene (and it’s island green 14th).

Finally they might be starting to release some courses. I had Couer d' Alene as well along with Carrol Valley that was once called Liberty Mountain. During the sale i wanted to pick up some courses with short yardages so I brought Blue Bell CC. Played today and was having problems with the graphic. I am curious if anyone is having the same issue with Blue Bell

Does anyone know which directory the FSX Play courses are saved to? With FSX 2020 it was easy to go in to the directory and see which version you have downloaded and compare to see if an update is available. I can't seem to find them for FSX Play. I think the software is supposed to show you when an update is available, but given the amount of bugs in FSX Play I don't think I can rely on it.

I find the update list in Play is pretty good. I keep an excel file that I compare with the downloads list and I have not yet found a case where Play did not call for the update. Actually a pretty reliable feature IMO.

Have you found that it updates automatically, or are you seeing an update icon on the courses?
Often when I open the program it will quickly go through a progress bar saying "installing courses", maybe that's updating automatically? (This will happen even if no courses have recently been downloaded).

I believe those are two different efforts. It needs to add the courses to Play for them to be used after the first time you download one. Also after an update I think. As far as the updates though, the tile showing the course will say update avail IIRC. I will check tonight though.

I think there's an update prompt (that is, "there is a new version of this Play course that you already have installed"). I haven't seen any prompt for "that course you have on FSX2020 is now available for Play." Nothing in Play was telling me last week that I should install Coeur d'Alene. Less than half the FSX2020 courses I have purchased are available so far on Play, so it is helpful when folks note here that new Play courses have been released.

Newly released courses seem to start at version 1.4.X.Y at the moment, like Coeur D’Alene. Tip?

I think it’s really lame that many of their customers have invested thousands of dollars in well-known courses, and theyre clearly prioritizing developing random muni / club courses to try to sell them hardware rather than developing your library of good golf courses (Oakmont, Carnoustie, Merion, Olympic, etc.) on FSX Play. I think this is a really lame approach and would for sure make me reconsider Foresight as a platform if I ever move and build a new sim setup.

There are some other good competitors coming out. PGA merch show had at least 4 other good ones. Foresight will need to step up their game to keep customers when there are so many other options now.
